After listening to lots of people rave about Lane 1 stuff I finally drilled out the pearl carbide. I was going to set it up 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 leverage with an axis hole, but it had too much top weight. Instead I leveraged the pin and kicked the cg out enough to give me 3/4 positive, then put a hole on the axis to bring it back down to about 1/4 positive. In box condition, it didn't look like a pearlized ball, but rather a polished solid. I couldn't get it to move on a heavy long oil 10 board shot, even when I caught a couple of dry boards. Took it back to the pro shop and had them put a 15 micron finish on it. With the glaze off the finish it made a strong early move inside the oil line and arced nicely all the way. I only threw about 10 shots with it after tweaking the cover, but at least two were light hits that really seemed to drop the pins low and clear them out fast. Overall hook with the 15 micron finish is close to my rock solid, but the axis hole gives it a totally different look with a much more even arc. The rock will be more versatile in heavy oil conditions, but it looks like the pearl carbide will give me some hit when I need to get in and play a little tighter.
