Lane #1 is great for the novice bowler !
« on: November 17, 2003, 09:16:23 PM »
I don't consider myself a great bowler by any standards, or even very good.  Just to give specs.

RH
180 - 185 average (held up by spare game)
Medium-Slow speed, 14-15 mph
Variable revs, perhaps my only strength.

I just got my Black Cherry Bomb drilled up label yesterday, and of course took it to a house that lies down a bit of oil to throw some frames.  The house I took it to, wooden lanes, medium oil, a fair amount of carry down...maybe they don't strip the backends.

So the BCB was not the right ball for the conditions, let me say that off the bat.  It was WAY too strong. But I wanted to get a feel for it since I have league tonight, and my corner stone (freak out) was eaten alive by a ball return last week.

The BCB was strong, which was expected.  It allowed me to play an inside line, which I usually can only do under slower speeds.  But I was able to play the 5th arrow or so and have enough to come back Brooklyn. (annoying but strangely gratifying) That is rare for me.  Usually when I try to play the 5th arrow, my ball rolls out or has just enough to make a week shot on the pocket, leaving a 2-8-10 or some combination there of.

The BCB did three things for me that I think any bowler who doesn't have decades of experience can use.  First I could play a more inside line, since the ball is obviously pretty strong.  Second, I could really pick up speed, probably up to 16.5 - 17 mph, without a total loss of reaction, also a good thing for someone who is not always zeroed in on the pocket.  Finally and what I think is most important, the BCB carried ALL SORTS of bad shots.  Now when it hit the pocket, the pins did go boom.  but I expect that with most balls.  But I have NEVER carried so many Brooklyn shots in my life.  I was all on the wrong side just due to the turn the ball put on, but I carried so many strikes on the wrong side that I felt compelled to post something.  does that mean that lane 1 stuff carries better?  well it sure as heck carries better than any other piece of equipment I’ve thrown.  And better carry on bad shots is a great thing for a novice bowler.  Guys like me will not be slamming the pocket all night, but this ball really helps.

Am I a lane one convert?  Yeah.  I am.  Now I want a cranberry so I can actually play on medium conditions and hit the 1-3.

Last thing.  My girlfriend noticed this by the way.  The sound of the hit when the bcb hit the pocket was distinctly different that when anything else I’ve thrown hits.  I don't know how to describe it.  it's just different.

Does the bomb count as a saw?

Bowling makes me feel stupid.  I don't know of anything else I do that frustrates me so much that I want to quit.  Yet there I am the next day, waiting to take a lickin from the 2-8-10.

I love reading Posts like this of the average league bowler trying to make better and surprises one self with the Buzzsaws/Bombs. I had a couple guys this year I really had to convince that putting a Black Cherry in their hand will give them the hand they just don't have and they will score better. Well here we are 3 months into league and not only have they all averaged 25+ pins better than there averages of years past but they've bought a 2nd ball for when the Black Cherry is a little too much.

I've had 160 average guys throwing mid 700s, Regional guys going out and cashing when they haven't before, many just throwing consistent games. Why? Its the way these balls roll. Once you get locked in let it roll, these balls HIT, react consistent and just plain give a bowler more confidence in their game. Not that the ball helps a bad bowler, I don't care what ball ya have, you'll need instructional help to throw it right but if ya have a good ball driller hopefully he can take ya down to the lanes and show ya proper technique.

Basically this post is a thanks to CountryClubBowler for laying down his true thoughts on a ball that I think should be considered as ball of the year. My #1 seller without pushing it, people just see this ball in action and want it! NOT many balls out today can have that instant impact. Good looks of a solid with length, a core from the bowling gods and HIT/SOUND like a bomb! The Black Cherry Bomb! It ROCKS!!!

I just posted a pic of Seattle Seahawks starting wide receiver Koren Robinson on my ProShop site with his new Black Cherry Bomb (hey who has the bigger wide receiver hands? me or him..ha!). Now this guy hits a million rpmers (no thumber) ha and tried mine out and loved it and bought one on the spot! It's worth the money!! Private message me if ya want to see a video sample of the Black and Cherry Pearl balls!

Come on now Mike, I think the BCB is a great ball, BUT do you really believe it is better than the Golden Nugget.  Afterall, I, eer I mean Clump says it is even stronger.  I threw my GN, and it was a ton of ball, and it looks like nothing else going down the lane.  I have had people come check it out just for the gold color, and then they stay for a shot or two, when they see its strong roll and hit.  Oh yeah, BCB is awesome, but I can hardly wait for CCB to try out this heah new ball from the BEST company in bowling.  The Golden Nugget is truly Golden, and so will the rings be, from the golden honor scores that are shot with it.  By the way CCB, do not consider your 180+ avg just a nere number, it is a very respectible average, and high 200 scores are well within reach of 180 bowlers, especially with a Saw in hand.  Try the Cherry Bomb, you will love it too.
