my apology...
« on: January 26, 2006, 11:22:28 AM »
to all you Lane #1 loyalists who would defend them to the grave i say this:

before I'd thrown a lane 1 i'd written them off as overpriced brunswicks with very little technology...a diamond? how great could it be?

now that i've thrown the Black Cherry Bomb for a while I understand why loyalists like you defend them so much. i've had people comment about how hard it hits, how loud it sounds, even on spares. that's never happened before. the carry is excellent, and as far as i can tell, very versatile coverstock.

my conclusion is this, would i pay 40-ish more dollars for one? yes. more importantly, can i afford to pay 40-ish more? no lol. this may be my last Lane #1 but i wanted to be the first to apologize for my narrow minded thinking.

Lane #1 makes a great product, and if anyone would like to donate any buzzsaws to me, feel free to message me for my address. lol.

Matt

Without debating the greatness of Lane 1, I'd be hesitant to attribute an average spike to anything but New Ball Syndrome.  It seems like every other review or mini-review on this site says something like "I shot 775 in my first night of league with my fantabulous new X".

I just bought a Thing Lives on Monday and shot 629 with it on Wednesday night, my second 600 series.  Is it really the ball?  As much as I like it so far, I just don't think that's the case.  A similar thing happened when I got my previous balls, though with somewhat lower numbers.  Those first few weeks I was up maybe 10-15 pins or so, then after a month or two, my average returned to roughly what it was before.

There always seems to be a new burst of energy, excitement, and performance when one gets a new ball, especially for folks like me who can only manage a new ball every 12-18 months.

Hey MAT .. let me agree with you .. never thought the LANE 1 products were NO GOOD .. always voiced my opinion that they COST TOO MUCH!

Another thought .. at one time I felt the LANE 1 hit was UN-EQUAL .. however the newer balls from most companies are equal to the hit and in some cases BETTER! If you haven't seen/tried the ONE from EBONITE or perhaps any ball from LEGENDS/LANE MASTER's or maybe the HAWG from HAMMER you have a treat coming.

Yes .. LANE 1 has a GOOD PRODUCT .. but there is a LOT TO CHOOSE FROM .. in a better PRICE RANGE!

I AGREE WITH YOUR THOUGHTS!

MFortney, glad you had a good first experience with a saw. I think it was good of you to post your feelings, & the error of your ways! Seriously if you shop when you're ready to buy another saw, you can normally find a decent deal.
When you take a 4 ball bag to your leagues & you find yourself almost always reaching for the BCB, well, your hooked!

I would think your average is going up because you are a younger bowler in high school newer to the game and your average reflects that.  You are becoming more and more skilled therefore your average is becoming better as you mature.

right now it's a toss up between the BCB and my delta 1. both balls react very well, the BCB going longer and snapping more on the back. the D1 is a little more even, and hooks a touch more. i usually start with the D1, and the first sign of a high shot...out comes the BCB and saves the day.

JOE-i agree that there are a lot of balls that hit very hard. my delta for instance, hits very very well...probably the same as the BCB, but the difference is in the sound...wow the BCB is LOUD! it turns more heads that for sure.

still haven't gotten any offers from those of you who want to donate your buzzsaws...offer's still on the table! lol.

on a more serious note...i'd really like to get a dirty bomb or an h2o. with the BCB highly polished like it is, drilled 4 1/2X4 1/2, how would the DB and h2o compare drilled more weakly...5 1/2X 4 1/2?

anyone care to see video of my BCB in action? i'll be at my center tonight and maybe that will make it easier to suggest something.
