For what it's worth - NON hijacked...
« on: May 25, 2004, 01:54:34 AM »
Debina,
An XXXL is NOT a "stupid plastic ball". Due to the presence of the Lane #1 diamond core, it is a very intelligent plastic ball.

I traded a voodoo for one several months ago. Although I haven't thrown it much, the couple of times that it has been the right ball have impressed me.
I had a condition a while ago where the heads were totally gone - burnt - toasted - char-broiled. I was trying to use my firestorm (old, old resin) around 5th - 6th arrow, and although I could hit the pocket, I could not carry, and was leaving some ugly stuff. After leaving a 5-7-10, I ran out to the car and got the XXXL. I was able to baby it up 10, with just a teeny bit of hook - and it carried light hits incredibly well. Hit high flush, and it was either a 7 or a 10 every time - but the light ones always seemed to go. It may not be a fair representation of the rest of the Lane #1 line, but it can stand on its own very well.

Now - I am NOT a lane #1 groupie. I just recently bought two Lane #1 aggressive balls. One of them (Black Cherry Bomb) is quickly becoming a favorite. The other (Super Carbide Bomb) seems to be way too much ball for me. It will be an extreme flood condition specific ball for several years to come. However - I must say that I really like the way these balls hit. Not well enough to switch everything over to Lane #1, like some BR members have done, but well enough to buy another if the right deal comes up.

I think everyone should have a xxxl for dry conditions. I have used alot
of sooo called drylane balls and I have yet to have the consistancy that
I get from the xxxl. I wonder if they will come out with a bomb version
of the xxxl.

Thanks for the thread rescue!

I probably contributed to my own hijacking by offering my "pithy" comments back to the poor sap who decided to try to have a bit of fun at my expense. Hopefully, that thread will fade to black sometime today or tomorrow. I'd lock it, but they just seem to be having so much fun over there.

So, I'll just pick up here ...

Stopped by the local association office yesterday to drop off summer sanction materials, and they just happened to be printing the results of the state ABC tournament. Husband and I are both cashing multiple times -- to our amazement! So, we discussed our options on the way to league and decided that we'll use the tournament money to buy a piece of equipment we wouldn't normally consider. I shared the relevant information I gathered from these threads with him, and he's going to study Lane 1 and choose something from that line, I think. Me? Well, I'm going for a MoRich Ravage. Can't help myself, it just keeps calling my name.

We've only been bowling for a little over two years, so we still have a lot to learn. The one thing I'm really curious about right now is at what point did I stop seeing all extra or "found" money as a reason for a new dress or shoes and start shopping for the next new bowling ball? My wardrobe's suffering!

Again, thanks for all the helpful replies!

Excuse my stupidity, but what kind of ball would he need?  I'm no Lane 1 expert by any means, but I could help.

P.S.:
You should probably lock that other thread before KFC comes back.
