4th drilling with the G-Force :(
« on: July 02, 2007, 03:11:54 PM »
I am really trying to be fair with this ball.  If you read any of my other posts you will realize I am not trashing Lane 1.

I agree that this ball doesn't work for me and that I should move on.  I have one more drilling that I want to try before I give up on the ball completely.

They say there are no bad balls out there.  Just the wrong ball in the hands of the wrong person and I believe it.

SO I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS A BAD BALL. Sorry for the bold typing but I just wanted to make it clear that it might be the bowler as well as the ball.

Nicanor,
Do you think that the ball needs to be clean? As you may know this ball soaks up the oil and I give mine a warm bath ever once in awhile.  I have mine stacked and I love it.

I was not happy with the Cobalt Pearl, so not every ball is suited for everbody.

I have tried to play the G Force on the wrong lane condition and it did not do well.  But when there is oil, look out!

at least you kept trying, i didn't like my original, still trying to sell it after only like 5 games of use. The next 2 in the series however, total different story!

I won't give up on Lane 1 just yet.  Not on a bad experience with one ball.  But I will wait till the new ball comes out and try again.  I have ben very successful with Lane 1 in the past and hope this is just a bad match up to my style of bowling.

Drilled 4 times, I think we cleaned it once or twice

not to mention drilling into the core that many times has to be changine some of the properties of it, therefore changing how the ball will react

and isnt the ball illegal to use in tournys that has been drilled more than 3 times? think i heard or read that somewhere, could be wrong though so dont quote me on that

most of the tournaments that I bowl in you can't re-drill a ball or you have to use clear ball plug.

Yes it does cost a little to re-drill a ball, but I have two of them so one is drilled only once and the second one is the one I am experimenting with.

Bummer.  Two of a ball you don't like.  And a premium one at that.

make a note of the coverstock used on the g-force solid and stay away from it on future ball purchases.
certain coverstocks/bowlers don't matchup well and redrilling, sanding, shining etc. won't help a huge amount.

well columbia poured  the Gforce line and since they were bought out by ebonite i dont see them using the same coverstock, so he should be safe

regardless.... with lane 1 being poured by 900 global now he wont have to worry about that coverstock coming up anyway

Nic, check with your pro shop or try calling Lane #1 to see if they will do anything for you. Maybe you just got the wrong top weight to start with...? Just a thought. =:^D

I agree with Mr_Smooth.  On medium-dry lanes my G-Force just rolls out before getting into the hook phase (only medium revs).
