Post by: AK47 on December 02, 2008, 12:29:50 AM
If you're waiting to hear all the bad news about the AO before you buy one, you're wasting your time!  This ball is amazing, i have to start standing where i normally stand in the 3rd game when the lanes dry out, it's a beast! Don't worry, it hooks and carries!! Go ahead and get yourself one for christmas

This ball really is one of the finer peices out of syracuse right now, the ball flat out floats thru the heads, gets very decent length and is just davastating on the pins, watched guys last night playing similar lines to me leave ten pin after ten pin after 8 or 9 pin and i just tripped shots left and right.  I can use this all three games (39 ft top hat decent volume, buffed to 41) and this ball lives in the oil, cover is at 4k abralon no polish, I cant get the ball out too soon or I am crossing over all night, but ride the oil line and Ive not seen anything current that runs with it, the guys playing the widow pearls and venoms have no where near the recovery I see with this ball, no where near the hook on the fresh and no where near the control I see on the carry down, very very nice piece to the lineup, this ball has replaced my cherry c/2 in the bag for back end reaction and playability

Just got mine today, along with the THS, BB/R, and Super Nova.  I cannot wait til Fridy to throw it.  I looked at the layouts that the ever imoressive Doug Sterner used, and I am excited.  I can hardly wait to give my rave about it since I match up so excellent with the Lane 1 stuff.  Again, no words can describe my gratitude to Richie, Chuck, Doug, and the entire lane 1 Family for their service and friendship.  I hope I can continue to represent you all well.

Trig,

He used the Mo Pinel system using 55 degree x 4 x 45 degree. CG is sung out a little so that it is at 11 and 4.

0  0*

     cg
        wh
  0

3/4" weight hole on VAL, 2" below PAP (box finish)

Weights are as follows: GW: 15 1/2 SW:+3/4 FW:+3/8 TW: 0

I am sure that DOug can elaborate more if he reads this.  I hope to sub Friday so that I can give a first time evaluation.

Trigger....Dave tends to like his CG kicked out a bit to help get the ball rolling due to his ball speed.

So I did a basic 4" pin to PAP with cg kicked out to about a 4" to PAP. If using Mo's Dual Angle set up it's a 55* x 4" x 45*. The ball should rev strong and still maintain a strong backend reaction.

Also I left the ball in box finish for him to try out....we'll see.

similar to mine, I started with a 3" pin, I normally layout with the dual angle, but honestly, this time didnt feel like jacking with it, put the pin in the ring finger, towards the top of the ring (you can actually see a very small part of the pin, stacked the cg right below, so for me it ended up being a 4.5 x 4 drill 15/16 finger, 1/2 side, no weight hole, and it does exactly what I wanted, took the surface to 4k abralon no polish, allows me many many lines to the pocket

You guys keep hyping this ball up. I have too much and and not enough speed for this one. But HYPE it up, that way the other end of the line gets put on sale earlier, because of lack of sales, then I can stash my case of Liberators and Chainsaws.

I have never thrown a ball as controllable as the chainsaw. I have had it 2 weeks..and have already thrown 8-9 in a row 4 times at a minimum.

never had this consistancy before.

Buzzhead....I am in full agreement here. My Chainsaw is the first ball out of my bag. Apparently our normal house shot is a bit oilier than many so it really doesn't come into it's own until game 2. That isn't to say I CANT use it game 1 but rather I have a bigger "comfort zone" with something a bit more aggressive to start.

Well,

Let me start with the fact that I shot 625 (209, 224, and 195) got a bit sore at the end.  The shot was med/heavy to approx 40', and I had to stand 23, and shoot 9 to 6, to reach the pocket.  If I were to go deepr and try 12 to 6, it did not get back.  I did not see the 80% backend that is listed, and saw more of a smooth arching hook.  I have so much speed at the break, that when there is oil, nothing seems to want to move unless I play down and in.  I will keep trying, as I do not want to be the only one that does not see the back end.  What I mean is that when I see 80% of the 125 hook rating is backend, I expect to see a sharp point like the Emeral and Cherry Bomb.  Maybe there was just too much oil this time around.  Any thoughts Doug/Trig ( I know that Trig has similar speed)?

Dave,

Your ball speed is probably rivaled by few.  Did you ever try to slow down the fast ball when needed.  I've bolwed with you before and you are very consistant and need a break point a little closer to you with all that speed.

That being said and most know I didn't match up with the Buzzbomb have finally put the Agent Orange in my bag for this weekends tournament. I have been struggling with the Agent Orange just enough to keep it out of my league and tournament bag but practiced with it when I could.  The ball gets through the heads so clean (my pin is below the ring finger CG kicked right of thumb about 2 inches) but when it hits the break point, it makes a very strong move to the pocket, but not a flip.  My speed is only about 16.5-17 mph and I could see that someone with Dave's speed could easily throw this ball past the break point.  I did take the AO up to 2000 Ablaron no polish from the OOB 500 Ablaron.

Good luck Dave, keep the AO for lanes a little shorter and with clean backends and you'll see this ball is explosive.

Well Dave as we have discussed in the past CG out drillings will cut the backend and will indeed create a long smooth arcing type hook....we discussed this.

IF there was truly heavy oil AND you were indeed throwing a PEARL RESIN (albeit a sanded pearl resin) when combined with your fairly direct line (I mean 9 to 6 is not much of a chance for teh ball to generate any angle at all with your ball speed) it is quite possible that you are flagging the breakpoint.

Also you have a 14 board difference between your starting point for your feet and your targeting point....26 with the feet, 9 at the arrows and 6 at the break.

What happened if you moved your feet a couple boards right and bumped the ball a bit wider?

I am going to guess that your desire/need to throw such a direct line is causing your to not get the ball to the dry early enough to get the change of direction you are desiring...just a thought.

Nic may indeed be on to something here...maybe a few less MPH or a change in release will get the results you desire. remember what we discussed on the phone last time....need to change your axis rotation to get more backend as opposed to forward roll.
