Come on Lane 1, get a new "spokesperson"
« on: November 13, 2003, 03:29:31 AM »
I don't know about the rest of you but when I'm looking at bowling equipment and trying to decide how best to complement my arsenal, I want high tech (and someone that speaks English)!  I don't want someone that makes it sound like this new ball comes from the pumpkin patch!  Lane 1 needs a new "spokesperson" instead of some inbred hillbilly.  Come on Lane 1, Dump Forest Clump !

PS.  Despite Forest Clump I ordered my GN today

Ha ha John, that's funny...

You'll need to ask the same four people his advice on what ball to use where and when.  Becareful though, you may get four different answers from that same guy....

But come on though, Clump's not so bad once you get to know him.

JT,

What does how a person types have to do with respecting their obvious knowledge?  I would respect someone like Clump more than someone who would  dismiss epxertise, just because the person types funny.  How do you know it is not done on purpose, or worse yet, what if a person really has a problem.  I suppose that if a guy laid out a ball perfect for you, but spoke like Clump types, you would stop dealing with him?  That is just plain wrong, to not respect someone's knowledge just because they type funny, or worse yet talk funny, and I am willing to bet that Clump knows more about Lane 1 than you, BUT I would still value YOUR insight, even though your typed words imply you are shallow.

Dave,

It's the persona that Clump "uses" that I am speaking of (which is no disrespect to a "real" person)and in no way implies that I don't comprehend what is said or feel that the person writing as Clump doesn't have some knowledge (maybe a lot depending on who he/she really is).  I never said that I wasn't amused by Forest's posts, I just said that the Clump persona was something that I wouldn't want associated with my ball company, that's all.  I was amused reading Clumpy's posts but when old clumpy started writing like he/she represented Lane 1 and that new "ad", well that's not the direction that I would take my company, but being it's not my company it doesn't matter.

Just my opinion, and as Charlest so eloquently put it in another message....they are like "something" and everybody has one.

How can I or should I say this...oh, ok, here it is:

"Can we say 'marketing' boys and girls?"

Sometimes I come on these forums just to I see what Mr. Clump has to say. Not to mention, coming from the South, I've met some people who actually talk like him too.

JS,

My post was in response to Jimmy T (hench why I typed JT NOT JS).  No it is NOT a typo, I wanted Jimmy T to read it; it was for him not you.   I am sorry, and I sent you a message.

Jimmy,

The problem of not respecting Clump's way of typing his knowledge, is that you may dimiss his opinion (knowledge), and miss some very good information.  If you ALSO noticed, I never TOLD you WHAT to do either, I merely said that to "disrespect" a person's opinion because of his method of delivery is to take a chance on missing info that could help you in a ball or layout choice, or improve your game, or increase your knowledge.  You can choose to listen or not, to whomever you choose, but the word disrespect, in my humble opinion, seems, notice I said seems too harsh.

Also, just because information is expressed more clearly by one person, and not as clear by another does NOT make it MORE reliable.  All it means is that one may have to read it more careful, and if you (or anyone else) are/is not willing to take that time, then the loss could be yours.  As for a company having a spokesperson like Clump, well let's just say that Richie is unique, and Clump is not, nor will he hurt Lane 1s reputation. I base my opinion regarding that on ball performance, not some spokesperson, no matter who they are, or how they express thier information.

I do not dislike you for you comments, and hope that you find all the information you need, and that it is always in the method with which you would like it delivered or expressed.
