Problems with my Dirty Bomb
« on: December 05, 2004, 06:52:24 PM »
Recently, I purchased the Dirty Bomb. Out of box finish
this thing is an absolute bomb. Then I applied Doc's Elixir
on the ball, however this makes it slides too far and hits the
pins lightly. Then I had the ball sanded to 600 grit, apply
the Ebonite Extender Polish followed by Doc's Elixir. The
same problem still persists. I am using this ball on medium
conditions. Suggestions on how to overcome this problem is
highly appreciated.

I have applied the elixer to my Classic Zone, & have had no recovery problems with the ball.  It too has the activator coverstock on it.

My experience is that Elixir works very well on sanded or matte finish balls.  For me at least, I get a lot of over/under reaction when used on polished equipment.  I have never used it on Activator covers though...  maybe DOC can be of more help here...?

Well, I'm not sure whether the Activator coverstock do not interact well with
Doc's Elixir. I have applied the Elixir on both the Solid Uranium and Uranium
Pearl. I still get strong reactions for both as they were out of box finish.
I sanded the Solid Uranium to 600 grit before applying the Elixir. For this
condition it needs two coatings of the Elixir. For the Uranium Pearl I apply a coat of the Elixir, it still has a strong backend reaction. I just don't know
what went wrong with my Dirty Bomb.

Just bowl with it a couple games 1st and see if a little pop comes back, Ive neevr had any problems with my balls, some ive put docs one after use coupel others i put on right when i got the ball.

LIke i said jsut throw a coupel games and see if anything comes back, if that dont work, hit it up with a little bit of grey scotch brite pad, or just keep bowlign til the docs wears off. after about 30 or so games.
