any chumps out there that have thrown the golden nugget?
« on: December 02, 2003, 08:33:35 AM »
Well?  If you've thrown it tell us about it.  Curious people want to know.  I may end up getting this ball and I want to know what to expect.

Read your post snakes, didn't see it before I posted this.  Looks like you have the same view as the redneck hillbilly.

Stickguy how did sawmill already have this ball?  he got it before it was even out.  I guess he really is clump

Fife its only for the chicks.  Some chicks dig gold so I figure I should try this ball to see if chicks dig it.  I heard that this ball can go really long when polished so I may have to polish mine like crazy.  Still no oil in northern CA.

drilled my nugget pin over bridge-cg kicked out 2 inches from center line,15lbs 2.3oz top weight.
rolls alot better than the cranberry...i threw my blueberry which is drilled almost exactly the same way as the nugget ,to see the difference on the same lane condition.lanes had some carry down.played blueberry over the second arrow and it went longer than the nugget before making a turn into the pocket.
the nugget rolled up earlier ,and the 12 board was perfect for a pocket hit.only had a few shots with it tonite, so will need to try it on a few conditions.the cranberry so far for me has been crap-will need to dull the coverstock down to get any reaction from this ball.
i think the particle load has helped alot to get the ball into an earlier midlane roll.
the color is not gold but a bright yellow!
anyway, seems could be a great ball......

Well, Pchee, you know I done had this here ball, and it is drilled 4 1/4 x 3, with the pin in the 1:30 position slightly above and right of ring, and the CG stacked.  This here piece of Gold is great on medium to oily conditions, and is very controllable.

With my ball speed, it is best on medium with fresh back so I can swing it, BUT  if I move right and throw up the 10 board, this ball with hold the line on oilier conditions.  Persons with good revs, and average speed will love this ball on oily conditions, BUT not heavy (that's what the Super Carbide Bomb is for).

The ball is also predictable, and if you have a hand like Clump's, you will be able to swing it.  I like the controllability when playing the outside shot, this ball does NOT over-react with my speed.  I also love the way the ball carries the light pocket hits as well as the solid ones.  Great ball, and fits well in the Mill.

What about slower speeds and lower revs???? Will it work for that style or not???....And if so, what would be a suggested layout???

Hail, I cain't buy this here ball ifin I dont no whetha this thing will work or knot.

Slower speeds would work, but with lower revs, you would have to play more direct to the pocket!  If I were you, I would ask Doug Sterner, as he has drilled for you already.  With Slow speed and low revs, this would probably work on the medium oil orless, with carrydown.

Great, now I have to live with being misquoted by the buzzhaters out there.

It LOOKS like a lemon, rolls great.

The golden nugget is the hardest hitting ball I have ever used.  I've used many buzzsaws and this ball hit like a ton of bricks.  I set it up cg out pin just below the fingers,  the ball goes long and then just tears up the backend.
It also reads the oil great rolls up great when you make your mistake inside and recovers..
