I took it down to 2k and sauce.  Just to get it to bite sooner but yet still get great length down the lane w/ the polish.

zeusjr: This is the strangest (dullest) 4000 Abralon finish I've ever seen. I can only imagine how dull it looks at 1000.

It doesn't matter because the reaction is phenomenal. At some point, I'll refresh the cover, btu right now I'm leaving well enough alone.

Steven, I'm not so sure it is 4000 Grit. There was a lengthly debate about that recently and many said it was 2000 Grit.

well i thought about it for a while then after it was drilled i decided to run abralon pads over it starting at 1000 then 2000 then 4000 with no polish what so ever . The ball looks completely different now with a smooth sheen look to it , nothing like the oob it originally had . Not saying it was not as stated , but it sure is now . Thanks for your feedback everyone .

Jeff: Thanks for the link to the Lane#1 information. I do recall seeing that somewhere before.....

The reason I bring the question of the surface up is that it doesn't appear to be a usual 4000 grit surface. Check out the cover of a NIB Black Widow (also 4000 grit Abralon) vs. the Dynamo. The appearance of the surfaces are night and day.

Maybe the Dynamo surface is 360/500 grit abralon followed by a very light 4000 grit application. But it doesn't really matter. It shouldn't be hard to replicate the finish through a bit of experimentation.

That's exactly the reason why some were debating as to whether it was really 4000 grit NIB as the site indicated, because when they ran a 4000 grit pad on it, it ended up with more sheen than it did NIB. I haven't seen a Dynamo, so I can say either way as to whether it is 4000 grit NIB or it isn't 4000 grit NIB, but I should have one within the next week and of coarse will first try it NIB and go from there.

seeing many many many 15# balls as well as 16# balls i can assure you they are at different grits, not on purpose but maybe it has to do with the speed of finishing at the plant, hit it with a 4k pad and you will see the difference

best i can see 15# balls are at 2k
