Can anyone give a comparison between the XXXL and a Slate blue gargoyle?

SBG handles a lighter pattern very well. The XXXL needs a very dry pattern to move much at all.

or better to say... it skids on any oil... no matter how "light" you might describe it. (at least that is my experience)
the XXXL can be play e.g. on a THS down and in on the dry outside boards... so saying it does not work on this and that pattern is imho not the right expression. No offense.

The original black XXXL will probably handle more oil than the red one or the Starburst, judging from the surface.
I have a Slate Blue and love it. One of the best balls made in the last 5-10 years. I use it for spares but also have used it as a strike ball on lanes as oily as medium-light. It moves more than plastic and has a very nice core in it.

again I disagree...
my Black sure feels a tad more tacky but the starburst imho grabs as good when it grabs... but that is a personal experience

I had a black and starburst at the same time. They perform the same. Both work extremely well on a dry condition, or a THS condition with dry outside boards...as long as you know how to use the oil line.
Never had the Visionary ball.
That said, the XXXL is the only ball I never leave home without.
