Drilling an XXXL
« on: March 24, 2008, 11:12:19 AM »
Typically how much stronger would you want to drill this ball than a weak reactive ball, or does it even matter a great deal? Lets say my favorite drilling for a weak reactive on a THS is 5X4 above bridge. I am thinking either 5X4 pin in ring, or 4X4 pin up. Anyone have any suggestions or experience drilling an XXXL?

You really want to keep the layout strong. Even though it is a high performance core. You need to help it out a little. The friction of the cover or lack there of will keep your flare rings closer together.  By using a stronger drilling you will achieve a better performance for a strike ball on the toast.

PS....The 4x4 sounds good!!!

I had a black one drilled Label 1:30 (pin 3.5" from PAP).
I bought a Starburst XXXL and used a Rico layout (pin 5" from PAP).
The Rico layout works better for me than the 1:30 layout did on these plastic balls. Of course, your mileage may vary
