Ball/drilling help please!!
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:40:09 PM »
I need a new ball and I'm hooked on Lane 1 so the new ball has got to be Lane 1. At the moment I have a Buzzsaw XL and a Dirty bomb. the Xl is my always first out the bag ball for league play then the dirty bomb which breaks a little earlier if the lanes are oiled more than normal. I love the way the XL go's long then hits the pocket hard to give the strikes were the pins just seem to give up and all fall strait back. So I'm looking for a replacement for my XL and I think I'm settled on the GForce SuperNOVA XP. reading the reviews on here it sounds just right.

Also I need to know the best way to drill it. I guess I'm a stroker, I stand on 20 throw over 10 with good speed and enough revs to take it from 10 in to the pocket. On reading the thread here about drilling the GForce SuperNOVA XP it looks like it is not a good idea to drill it label so I'm looking for a drill that will give me good length and a strong back end.

The ball will be 15lbs with a 4-5" pin

Many thanks,

Alex Barrett

. . . pin length is 4"
. . . pin 1" to 2" above ring
. . . stacked
. . . pin is 5" from pap
. . . cg is 3" from pap
. . . effectively making a 3-4-5 triangle
. . . x-hole in thumb quadrant

. . . i'm not a driller but that's what i want

The XP is a stronger core/cover combo than the XL. The XL has a weaker pearl with a single density diamond and the XP has a dual density twisted diamond and a stronger pearl cover with a duller surface.

If trying to replace your XL you would want to use the same type layout as your XL will weaker parameters..

Example...

Pin and cg further away from PAP.

Thanks for the advise.( and thanks for the ball Beans )

I've had the ball drilled like Roy suggested with a X hole on my pap. the pin has ended up about an inch and a half above ring. cg on the mid line and the MB an inch and a half to the right of thumb.

I love this ball!! On my house shot it brakes a bit sooner than my XL but it's much more angular. It gets to the break point then just turns a corner and kills the pins. I cant get over how hard it hits the pins!

Once again thanks for all the helpful advise.

Either you are a JLS wannabee or an alias. Regardless, the only problem you would have reading those lines is if you kept reading the periods.
No, you may not handle my balls. Well....maybe just for a little while.
