Chainsaw at tournament...
« on: April 12, 2010, 04:32:06 PM »
What started out as a 900Global blog pretty much turned into a blog about the Chainsaw (http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=257730&ForumID=112&CategoryID=2). I've been griping about this ball ever since I bought it but I guess I just finally had to find lanes dry enough to throw it on. I bowled in our state tournament this week and between the 40-plus-year-old wood lanes at Leland and the extremely short and wet/dry lanes at Bama, I had a hard time getting a good look.

All-events scratch lead was 2120 when we left, which should indicate the difficulty of the condition.

I would estimate I threw the Chainsaw for more than half my total frames over 12 days, and I rarely get to throw it at home. I have a hard time getting it to tip at my home house but I looked like Belmonte with it last weekend.

So I'm done griping about that ball. I may have to keep it in a box all year and just pull it out for tournaments, but I doubt I'll leave town without it again.

I am kinda in the same boat as you. I can use it on THS, but there really is no need for me to. I will say when they are toast and only toast I do like that ball. It does serve it''s purpose, but I don''t think I will put 20 games on it EVER, but it''s nice to have if needed. There is no shortage of oil anywhere around my home town, I bought it for well, the just in case.

I use mine for my spare ball due to it's tendency to go straight in any oil and I also occasionally use it when the lanes are dry enough.  It is always in my bag and I seem to use it more at tournaments just like you did JessN16.

thanks Jess for bringing your struggles with this ball full circle. I have maintained from day one this ball is a real winner, and now maybe you see it's value. This ball never leaves my bag [ EVER ], because it's that GOOD

I can't overestimate just how good this ball is.  I have played it on everything from dry lanes to a US Open pattern and it works super awesome for me.  I just shot 737 last night with mine in league....

I use it on both dry and fresh.

On fresh, I change the cover stock between 1k and 2k grit Abralon.

I tried it on soup at 500 Abralon and it was great too.

It takes surface change very well.

I can't imagine it working on soup at any grit unless you have mega-hand (which you very well might).

It's definitely the most surface-sensitive ball I own, though. Screw up the surface and it's not usable for me.

you sir are clueless, unless you got the worst model chainsaw ever made or what. Like munson and OG sawhead, I too haVE USED IT ON every pattern and can score with it, including the shark.

Good for you, but just because I get different results than you do doesn't make me "clueless." And some of you guys wonder why the Lane #1 forum draws in the nutbags to stir up trouble. Try not to attack everyone who disagrees with you.

I couldn't think about using that ball on fresh. Your center must be a dessert. That or your rev rate is way higher then mine, but I doubt that.
