Title: Black Cherry BOMB Advice
Post by: Sir Bowl-A-Lot on July 24, 2003, 11:29:37 PM
I had a Cherry BOMB drilled label 1:30 pin and it never really reacted at all.  Just skid, skid, and more skid.  So I sold it to recoup 75% of what I put into it.  Anywho, this Black Cherry BOMB has gotten my attention.  I figure with the solid cover instead of a pearlized it should be able to handle our 42 foot (10 board to 1 out of bounds) shot no problem...right?  Could I getaway with another label 1:30 pin drilling or should I go stacked or even stronger?  I like to play a small arc, but no matter what, I want the ball to recover real well (big snapping backend).  How will this ball compare to the Blueberry that has been hit with a green scotchbrite on a ball spinner?  Any advice would be great.

I would stay away from the 1:30 layout, as it tends to give you more over/under. A stacked 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 or a CG out 5 x 3 3/8 should give you the reaction you're looking for.

This ball will hook harder off the dry than a Blueberry, because the core is stronger. =:^D

My suggestion would be my favorite layout of 4x4.  Sir-Bowl-Alot, as for your Cherry, we are similar in profiles, so I will tell you that mine is laid out at 4 1/2 x 3, pin is directly beneath the ring finger and CG is kicked right.   I get a great reaction out of it.  Just thought I would tell you this if you wanted to try a change on your Cherry; mine moves quite a bit.  Let me know what u think.  I am planning on getting the Black CB, but am not sure what layout I will use.  My Super Carb Bomb is 4x4, with the pin in the 2 o'clock position, above the ring, and CG kicked right.  I may go 4x3 on the BCB, but I will check with Doug.  Hoep this helps you fix your CB so that you can get as much movement as I do; keep me posted.

I have the same drill on my Cherry Bomb and it is over/under. I get a lot of reaction on the typical league shot but it is not snap left like some have seen.

I let Dragon throw it on his last visit and he said the same thing..."I thiought it would react more."

I am looking to sell this one and possibly buy another for a different drill pattern. Although with the color match sheet from Tech-Line I can probably match it pretty well and the plugs won't be near the track...

I may try a pin over rin, cg out...like a 5x3 or something
