Benchmark Ball
« on: October 11, 2005, 11:21:27 PM »
Want to try lane#1 and experience the power for myself. What is a good bench mark ball for them? Leaning toward the Solid Uranium, but do not want something to condition specfic!

any lane1 ball .. they all have the power you seeking

but also, regardless to the company, all bowling balls are condition specific
you can't buy a heavy oil ball and use it on dry condition or buy a dry lane ball and use it on heavy oil

what's the lane condition in your house, and we will suggest few balls for you

Solid Uranium is too strong for a benchmark unless you always see medium heavy oil alot or you throw it hard.  Some of the most versatile balls they make are the Uranium pearl, the Dirty Bomb pearl or the Hybrid is quite versatile also.  I think of a benchmark as first out of bag and one of my most used balls.  I do that with any of those 3 balls.  Like GTX said though if you tell us primarily what you bowl on we might can recomend the best possible ball.  I think the Tsunami might be my new benchmark but its too early to tell right now.

agree with JPR. The Solid Uranium is to much to be a true benchmark ball. I would go with the Hybrid of Uranium Pearl personally.

The conditions that I bowl on are mostly medium to the lighter side of medium. Sometimes Medium-Heavy. Rarely see heavy oil or very dry. Thought maybe I could polish the Solid for the mediums and still be able to use it on the medium-heavy when I have it.

The solid uraium is very low rg and super grabby coverstock almost particle like.  I couldn't ever use mine period and i sold it.  I don't reccomend it to people. Its not a bad ball in general just not as versatile as others are.

The Uranium solid is the first out of my bag for a few weeks now at both houses. I see fresh oil every night on new synthetics (both places). The U-Solid seems to work the best for me on these shots and handles carry down very well. The Hybrid Dirty Bomb is my second option if the Solid starts up to early (but that just has not happened to me yet this fall). Sounds like the Hybrid might be the better option for you if the shot is truly medium. Depends on how you throw as well. If you are cranking the snot out of it...these will both be too strong. For a stroker, you are probably looking at the right stuff. Drilling will also play a role in how they will work for you on your conditions.

Thanks for the input! After further review, I think the Hybrid is the way to go. Hope my first Lane#1 experience will be rewarding!

Best all around ball is the Pearl Uranium,  great on a variety of conditions.  Really can't beat this ball for benchmark..
