My THS came out of the box with polish on it. I tried polishing it more and it didn't do well. I took the polish off and finished it off at 1000 grit. It was ok but needed a bit more length or longer oil. So I went to 2000....was better but didn't hit like I wanted. I went back to 1000 with a light coat of polish (just wet the polishing rag I use and didn't add any fresh polish to the rag) and it worked very well.
Of course I ended up changing a few things since (span, pitches, release etc) so I plugged and redrilled the ball pin axis...now it's my dry lane ball :-)
Keep me posted.

Doug, how did you drill pin axis (cg, x-hole) and how does it roll on dry lanes for you?
I may suggest pin-axis to my Dad for dry lanes as he can't use his THS as it is drilled now. He needs something to play up the boards for more consistency and doesn't want to buy another ball.
Thanks

Well since my ball was drilled once already and has a 3-4" pin, I was able to get away without the drilling needing a hole.

The ball is ridiculously smooth with virtually NO backend at all. I was looking for a ball that I could dump up the track area or move inside and play up like 15 without the ball coming off the oil and going left....this is it!!!!!!
In fact this ball does the job better than I do.
The downfall here is that the ball will give you what you put into it...if you miss hit it, the ball is not coming back. You pull it, it's going to lay there and smack the headpin square on the nose. If you push the ball right, it will not recover and get pocket.
The layout is definitely a player's ball...in that you need to be able to throw the ball consistently for it to work for you.

Thanks for the info Doug.
My Dad is a good bowler but has been having trouble with over/under lately. The ball rolls out when he swings it and jumps when he tries to play straighter.
He doesn't have the speed to go up the boards with his current line up so maybe pin-axis on the THS will work at least until I can talk him into a dry lane ball

If your release is good and consistent and you have no problem hitting your mark, pin axis should work just fine.
Personally, I am too erratic with my release to make the ball work as I had anticipated. When I am on my game though the ball is awesome.
