The team I bowl with on a Monday night late league had an interesting experience last night. The lane guy screwed up and absolutely flooded the lanes gutter to gutter. We tried everything, but just weren't getting any movement. After I tried slow rolling (14mph) my "Super Carbide Bomb" up the third board, and had it slide clear into the 3-6 pocket, I went down to the proprietor who also bowls in the league and jokingly told him I needed waders for my balls. He told me that the lanes were fine and we should slow the ball down, move right or throw it straighter and faster. Well, we had already tried slower, and straight up 3rd board is as far right as I can really go, so we opted for faster and straighter.
The hard straight route quickly evolved into a "who can roll their "Buzzsaw" the fastest contest" and a stopwatch was quickly pulled out of someones bag. I guess the proprietor had never heard the sound of a "Buzzsaw" hitting his pins at over 25 mph, because about 3 frames later he came down complaining that we were throwing the ball too hard and were going to break his equipment.
We told him that he had in fact suggested we throw the ball "Starighter and Faster", and his pins were certainly designed to be hit by bowling balls. He told us to stop throwing it so hard or we would be asked to leave. I guess you really CAN have too much power, go figure.
