chainsaw massacre le
« on: January 21, 2011, 01:23:24 AM »
I have never thrown a lane 1 ball before,(pricey),and I am cheap. I just got a massacre from one of the bowling stores for 89 bucks and I am wondering what to expect. It was very high on their perfect scale rating and I figured for the price why not. My bank is currently the strongest ball in my line up and it is rated 8 points under the massacre. I have a mission mutant cell and jigsaw trap and the bank is the money ball in oil,but doesnt offer much in versatility for me,its pretty much a down and in piece and when the shot goes so does the bank,I am looking for something strong that will offer the ability to migrate left as the shot changes and still give recovery and carry. I am wondering if this might be it and how should i set it up. My bank is 3 and 3/8 by 45,at least thats what i asked for,its a pin in ball.

I am a med. speed righty pap is 4and 5/16x11/16 up,stroker with med tilt, low revs and I am currently at 205 if that matters.

I drilled mine stacked w/PIN below and right of ring finger. Need OIL to keep it on line. overall nice ball and strong backend. Similar to the cobalt bomb core wise.

I had asked the difference between the Massacre and the Massacre LE on here and was told by Lane#1 users that the only difference was the surface preparation, with the LE being sanded to 2000 grit Abralon, while the regular model was polished. The coverstock and the core were identical on both models.

Just make sure your static weights are all tuned otherwise the ball won't work....

ok I finally got to throw my first lane one ball. What I was expecting was a ball stronger than the bank, something I could open up the lanes with, maybe get a little more area on the heavier concentrations. It got drilled with a 4 inch pin to pap at 45 degrees, pin is above the ring finger. I was throwing on a pretty dry shot actually,my spare ball was hooking so this might not be fair, but Im bored a   nd i did throw it and my bank. Shot was really broken down with oil outside of 10,left over oob,but really the only place trully playable for either one of these balls.

The le does hook and it may have been burning up,but if i got it right to quickly it was a gonner.Nice ball reaction nice carry potential I can see promise in the ball at the oob surface, but the bank is still the strongest ball in my bag,and even on this broken down shot i couldnt throw it pass the break point and it never died. Unless oil is going to make the le skid and flip harder,I would have to say without surface prep the bank proves to be stronger and more versatile.I wouldnt want to play this type of shot with either of these balls ,but if its worth anything the le will be the ball to go to when the bank is over hooking, there just wasnt any under hooking in it since i cleaned it anyway, but the le is back in the pack of all the same stuff I already have nothing great, not a got to have ball but if you had one you wouldnt be upset, its just not a replacement that I was looking for
