The new ball
« on: June 06, 2007, 12:24:47 PM »
I have an unconfirmed report that the first ball in the new line will be the core from the Uranium line with a new hybrid type of coverstock. I am told it is not a resin or a particle but it is alleged to make anything else on the market look like a White Dot.

Thoughts????

Darren, if you don't want people to dog you then why purposely post such comments?

As I recall the Internet is about information exchange and attempting to further one's knowledge. So what's wrong with canvassing the greater population and seeing if anyone out there is hearing the same things I am????

As for your distributor knowledge...why would any supplier/ distributor tell anyone that a ball brand they do not carry is selling well? That would be like a Chevy dealer telling a potential COrvette buyer that the Mustang was a superior car and it was ouot selling the Vette 5 to 1. Saying your competition is doing well is business suicide.

As for the G Force line tanking, it is quite possible that the original 3 G-Forces will be gone unless Richie managed to get the coverstock formulations from COlumbia before they closed.

Douglas,

I could care less if people "dog" me or not.  Instead of posting the "unconfirmed report" rumor that you guys love to throw around...why not say, "Hey, has anyone heard anything about a new Saw coming out?"  Not like a certain ball manufacturer is gonna say, "Yep...this new ball we got coming out is just an old core wrap up in a .00002% variation of the last 3 coverstocks we have used."  No....he is gonna say, "Yep....we scientifically altered the XYZ core to provide more density, discovered a hybrid (still love that one) coverstock that no other chemist in the industry managed to stumble upon....and oh yea....it's gonna make everything else look like a White Dot in terms of hook.....but hey man....would appreciate it if you would keep that on the low-low for a bit."  Jeez, Doug.  You tell me which one he is gonna say.

As far as the distributor info goes, the ones I TALKED to say they have them in stock, they just can't seem to find anyone ordering them.  Hence the term.....tanking.  Like I stated before, which you left out of your reply, I like the 3 Saws I have quite a bit.  I truly hope for the sake of the sawheads out there, Richie DIDNT get the formula from Columbia before they closed.  That coverstock reeks bro.

Sorry But I have to disagree, I absolutely love my G-Force...  And next to my C+ it's my second favorite...  It doesn't reek at all...

Well Darren I guess we are simply going to have to agree to disagree on this one. As I recall Lane 1 has always been very up front with telling you aboiut the core. An example I'll quote is the Uranium series. They told you up front it was the original diamond core that had been altered by making it denser to provide a lower RG and better midlane read.

The C/2 issue....separated mini-diamonds within the original diamond vs stacked minis....they told you that they were stacked or separated and why if I recall...The Carbide LRG was the first one with them stacked while the Super Carbide had them separated if I recall.

The Bomb core....same deal. They told you up front the difference between the original Bomb core, the Super/ Cherry Bomb core and then the Dirty Bomb core. As I recall they also explained why the difference.

And the coverstock issue.....I do recall Lane 1 also posting such information as "Powerkoil 18" or "N Control" as their coverstocks. Then came the Activator line from Brunswick...do you think the fact that they called their version "Radioactive"  they were trying to hide anything? To use the name Activator would have required a release from Brunswick and thus more $$$ per ball into Brunswick's pocket. Then came the Dirty Bomb Hybrid with its "Radioactive 18" coverstock...gee, were they trying to fool anyone there either?

Lane 1 has never said they had magical coverstock or core configurations. What they have boasted and has proven true for many is that their combinations have given a lot of bowlers an advantage that they did not get with other equipment.

Remember how the epoxy cover was supposed to be the holy grail of bowling? It works very well for some people and would work even better for more if there was a decent core inside the ball.

I for one am curious about this new coverstock and in my mind it HAS to be some sort of epoxy but I don't know. Lane 1 has not produced a hook monster since the Super Carbide Bomb and I'd really like to see what they dreamed up.

As for the unconfirmed issue....it's a matter of semantics between what I said and what you suggested I say so let's just let it be.

The G-Force? I hated my original as it was very condition specific until I decide to plug, redrill and alter the surface...then the ball came alive for me. The Evolution is the best of the 3 with the Nebula being my least favorite but I have not played with it much. Time will tell.

I had 2 Cobalt Solids and they both rumbled the holes but I love the Pearl Cobalt. My Tsunami was great until I had to resurface it and they changed our oil and pattern. Never did act right after that but I am playing with another one I got in a trade deal here a few weeks back.

Does Lane 1 hype their stuff? Of course they do but they just do it ina  little bit different way than other companies. I mean come on....look at Richie Sposato vs Bill Chrisman....do you really think they'd do their marketing the same way??? Not to mention the fact that I'd bet Storm has more people on staff in their marketing department than Lane 1 has as a company...

I'm not arguing here Darren...you and I have known each other online here long enough and we both know that we both have valid points...

Zeus...I hated my Carbide+...had it drilled 2 different ways and I hated the ball...sorry man.

It's all good, just like my disagreeing with the G-Force comments not every ball works great for everyone.  Another example for me is allot of people love the BOMB cores, while I'll moved away from using them.

Agreed Zeus...the only Bombs I ever had a lot of success with were the Cherry Bomb Pearl, Super Carbide Bomb and the Hybrid Dirty Bomb. The original Bomb and Bomb pearl were duds for me, didn't care for the Black Cherry much after my initial "wow this ball is great" feeling wore off. The Dirty Bomb was awesome on the right shot but was way too sensitive to carrydown for me.

Give me my SCB, a Super carbide, Blueberry, Cherry Pearl, SIlver Diamond and an Emerald and I'll be a happy man with the old stuff.

Right now I think I can pretty much cover it all with just the 3 G Forces and my polished Phantom.

stormbowler....just ask a guy on here....I just sold him 3 G-Forces for $510 shipped. That's $170 per ball....less than I sell the Infernos, Paradigms and Ones for....

Just gotta know how and who to buy them from.
