Well I have been using my Buzzbomb/R (first Lane 1 ball I have ever had) for a few weeks now... and so far am pretty happy with it! I got it used so didn't really bother with layout, just had it plugged and re-drilled to my hand. Pin is to the left of my ring finger (sarge easter grip), so on a conventional finger-tip would be below bridge. CG is kicked out a little.
So far I have thrown the ball on a number of patterns. Here is a short overview of my findings on 2 shots:
Shot 1 - 42 feet, heavy oil - This is the heaviest shot around here, very heavy oil in the middle of the lane with a Christmas tree shape, is very easy pattern with ample mistake room however you need something that will generally read early. The B/R, with its polished finish, does not fair all that well on this shot. Playing outside with the B/R allowed the ball to read the shot early and provide its seemingly trademark smooth arc to the pocket. Unfortunately the ball is simply too weak to be used effectively on such oil volume, I was left looking at a lot of weak corners regardless of where I was standing, simply because with the long pattern the ball really never go the chance to pick up enough to "hit". On a heavy shot like this I give the B/R 6/10
Shot 2 - 38 feet, medium oil - This is my league shot, a very flat house shot, not a lot of play in the shot to "spray" the ball. The B/R reads this shot amazingly well. The B/R in my hands is not a hook monster by any means, and actually is one of the weakest reacting balls I have ever thrown, but the reaction shape is what is special with this ball, it is very early rolling and has a great smooth arc, something that on lighter shots has been a life-save for me. On this shot the ball reads the lane to a T, early pick-up, no roll out, very predictable and it allows me to play more in the track area. On medium shots this ball nets a 9/10
Overall I see this ball as a great addition to my arsenal, it is a great benchmark for me, as I don't like snappy balls that tend to be unpredictable in the backend. So far this week alone I have had the front 7 5 times with the B/R, that would be 5 times out of only 8 games... so no complaints! As I continue to use the ball I will update my feelings on it and eventually upload a video review and write up a full review. For now I give the ball a 8/10. A great medium/light ball in the OOB.
