Wanted a Dynamo, got a Dynamo X2...
« on: November 21, 2009, 05:54:19 PM »
...which will teach me to read more carefully the description of what I'm bidding on on eBay. Anyone else ever pull a stupid like I just did?

So anyway, I've got a X2 coming this week. Looking to fit in into a 900Global/AMF/Lane #1 arsenal. Since it's not the original Dynamo, I doubt I can make an oiler out of it. I'm thinking, therefore, that I'm going to try to slot it somewhere under my Break S-75. I have an AMF Nkryption Code drilled Girard and then polished (and that's still an aggressive ball), but I figure the X2, with a more "normal" pin placement, is going to give me roughly the same amount of oil-handling capability but with a different look. The X2 will be pin under ring with CG out, since I'm not going to do a full plug and redrill. That will come out to about a 3.5 x 2 drill for me.

Next step is figuring out what to do about surface. I figure my choices are to leave it box, go 2000 plus polish or take it down to 600 or 1000 with polish.

Recommendations welcome since I'm incapable of reading an auction correctly and thus don't need to be messing with bowling balls, apparently.

Jess

Hey there Jess...the X-2 is a great ball. Mine is actually too strong for the shot I want to play it on. I have tried multiple surfaces but Have yet to hit the magic combination of surface and polish.

I would start off with 1000 grit and go from there. Even with the layout being close to a 5x4 and the pin up, mine is surprisingly strong.

Keep us posted!

I have to agree with Doug on this, ball is very versatile. You can change the cover and get good lenght and alot of back end or dull it and it will really move.
