I find it hard to believe that none of the famous Lane#1 supporters have answered your request yet; so I'll take a reasonable stab at this quetsion.
If the Cherry Bomb is not handling carrydown, then the Cranberry/Blueberry is not likely to do it, at least in box condition, as they are highly polished, even though they are solid to the CB's pearl. Theoretically the BCB, being a solid, is the next proper step up in oil handling ability, and given all the raves by the Lane#1 community and the BTM review (the BJI review is much more reserved), it should be able to handle the carrydown that the CB cannot.
How different is your friend's release, speed and track from yours that you would assume that your BCB would act the same way as his?
If your track is higher, then your ball will start hooking earlier than his, eliminating some of the carrydown problem.
What drilling does he have?
If it is a weak drilling or weaker than you might drill it, then one with more flare would be able to handle more oil and more carrydown.
Did he dull his ball's surface at all, even slightly?
That is a natural mod to handle more oil.
The next Lane#1 step up beyond the BCB is the Super Carbide Bomb and that's only for SUPER-heavy oil conditions.
Since the CB and the BCB use such a strong high flaring core, and given that the BCB has what is supposed to be a more aggessive cover than the Blueberry/Cranberry's Power Koil 18 cover, I find it hard to believe that the Blueberry, even sanded, would do a better job than the BCB sanded.
