XXXL vs Rubber
« on: January 06, 2006, 08:17:42 AM »
Note...that's rubber...not rubbers!

I have an XXXL...on the severe wet dry we bowl on it seems to recognize the bone and the oil.

I've used rubber and it seems to not sense the bone as much(but it does sniff out the oil).

REally think it's that much better than rubber?

Please explain how having a "real" core has anything to do with how a ball hits and carries?

NO! Stanski hasn't got a clue...

Lets compare a blue dot from columbia, and an XXXL

The blue dot has a pancake weight block with not core... this ball has a plastic shell.. and will go dead straight, and might wrinkle a hair on scorch.

The xxxl has a plastic shell and a true high performance core.. and will actually let you command a late raction on medium dry for spares and 10 pins and such, and also gives you an unbelievable edge on those scorched dry back end shots you run into evey now and then.

The XXXL is by far the best spare ball and dry lane ball on the market.

It has everything to do with the core....

What i was getting at is I honestly cannot imagine a condition where having a ball with a plastic shell and an early rolling core would be a good thing. Maybe I'm just picturing this wrong, but I just cannot see how getting plastic to roll earlier due to core dynamics would help a ball roll optimally.

I could see this working for someone with some speed. I just can't see this working efficiently unless the condition is absolutely optimal.

Works for the guys that rev up the ball way beyond the level of their speed on house conditons.

WOW.,..I forgot to check onthis little post I put out here.

Has sure gone tangential!

Anyway...for DP3 were you saying Rubber balls are the answer for those with more rev than speed?(that's me).

For the others...all I can say is I have both xxxl And the old fashioned Manhattan rubber, the rubber seems to glide between these harsh transitions at my house and if some strong backend can really hit!  As I stated...an oldtimer comes in with a beautiful stroke and averages better than about 215 on the left on our wicked weekend hardscrabble shot with Rubber as his hook ball.

The rest of the top lefties in our area can't come close though this year they are up in the 21X range in league with some good new stuff like the Vertigo!

I would say the rubber would act comparable to a particle ball and the plastic to act more like a resin. This is in comparison to rubber and plastic. =:^D

To get even more tangential, does ANYONE, ANYWHERE even make a rubber bowling ball anymore?  If so, what's the marketing spiel for it?
