Randy, it's nice to see Dan Bearden bowled his FIRST 800 Series using a Lane #1 Black Cherry Bomb. Now go tell your boss that Lane 1 stuff isn't worth the money..!! Ohhh...Dan is your boss..!!

Damm, the guy is 55 yrs old and bowled his first 800 series. I guess it was just a coincidence he bowled his first 800 set within about 2 months after using a  Lane 1 ball..? Now keep telling everyone that Lane 1 balls aren't worth the money.

Working in a pro shop...$10.00 an hr.
Buying a Lane #1 ball...$250.00
Bowling your first 800 series...PRICELESS..!! =:^D

#1, Dan makes much more than 10 dollars an hour, I assure you,it's randy or myself at that pay scale, so that line in your post makes no sense at all.

#2, Dan didnt pay ANYTHING for that black cherry bomb, which might I add is the only reason he threw it, as I was the one who laid it out for him, I think I would know.

#3, You still dont seem to get, our only point was that the balls were not worth the extra money paid for them, not that they cant shoot honor scores.  If you honestly think that he's never been close to shooting an 800 series (probably even with a yellow dot) then you're crazy. Not alot of difference between a 790 something and 8-O-something.  Lets not get carried away here. It's all about being able to matchup, and if you think Mr Bearden would've had no chance to possibly match up with something else, that my friend is just being plain ignorant of his capabilities. On a side note, the first 3 game series Dan bowled with his Black Cherry bomb was 467, but I'm sure you failed to know or mention that eh. He was never going to throw it again until it was suggested that he put a little more surface on it to smooth it out....but then, OH NO, that would mean that he tweaked the ball to MATCH UP...wow, that phrase just keeps coming up, you would think in your twenty years of experience you'd have gotten that stuck in your head somewhere, matching up is matching up, no matter what kind of ball it is.

Despite my past arguments AGAINST what I feel are overpriced balls, I have come to my own piece of mind that to each his own.  I shot an 800 with a BlueDot...just a great matchup is all it was.  Nice to see some of the other BowlersAidProShop guys being active in the forums.  BTW, tell Dan I said  "GRATS!"

I am glad for the person that shot his 800 series . I did my first 800 with my Storm X Factor . I was in the zone that night . Just like he was in the zone.
People forget that it still take a body to the the ball down the lane. Correct speed, adjustment, rotation, the right ball for the lane condition.

Thank you

AHHH HAAA! -  T-God, Wells wants the credit for Dan's 300. After all, he is the one that laid it out. lol

I would guess, by seeing the wink and smiley face, Brick was not being very serious. I did enjoy Melvins remark about the body throwing the ball. IMO, in the end, it doesnt really matter what you throw. It all comes down to the bowler executing the shot.

Wells,

#1, I was referrig to Randy
#2, I wasn't suggesting he did pay for it. I was just stating the normal price of the ball.
#3, There's a BIG difference between 800 and 790+, just like there's a BIG difference between 300 and 290+.

Yes, it's all about matching up, as well as throwing the ball well. It's just funny that after all these years, along with hundreds of balls on the market, a Lane 1 ball is the one that matched up for him to score 800.

Jabroni, I'm just having fun with you guys. But, if you did pay $240.00 for your Beast, I'll bet you'd've thought it was worth it. If I was guaranteed an 800 series I'd fork over $250 every week..!! =:^D

Randy, Curley is correct in what he said about me, the smiley face, wink, etc.  I would say that Curley is grown up and mature since he doesn't jump to conclusions.

1) Congrats on the 800 Dan... nice shooting

2) This whole issue can be compared to vehicles.  You can choose (and many are content with) driving a hyundai...  or you can drive a cadillac.  Both will get you from point A to point B.  The people driving the foreign crap are content because they didn't spend a ton of money and they get good milage.  The people driving the cadillac's are content because they aren't driving hyundai's.  Its all relative...can't we all just get along?

I have known Dan for almost 20 years.  He drilled my first bowling ball when I was 10.  I never knew up to this point that he had never shot 800.  He has been a top notch bowler in Atlanta for years.  To know that this is the 1st is actually a shock to me.  To be honest, though, it really doesn't matter what he shot it with.  Just the fact that he now has his ring is an accomplishment in itself.  To say that Lane #1 carries better than other companies is just an opinion and only that.  I have 15 800s with VARIOUS bowling balls.  I have used a Panther on a couple occasions, a Gargoyle, a Triton Heat, just to name a few.  My 1st 800 was with a Red Tour Boss.  I just named Ebonite, Visionary, Track, and Columbia.  BUT...it does not mean that one company can out carry another.  Like Randy has preached for years now; it is all about matching up.  I want to congratulate Dan for his accomplishment because I know the 1st is always the best and one he will savor for a long time.

No it can't.  In the vehicle example you are willingly paying the extra money for features, luxury, and quality.  With bowling balls, you are paying the extra money for...well, just what are you paying the extra money for?  Did your cherry bomb come with leather seats and a GPS system?

ice`em,

Indeed you are right.....Dan did shoot his first 800 with a black cherry bomb, the whole point being made by myself and randy, albeit he may be a little more on the offense, is that Dan could have very well shot an 800 throwing a Vortex II....the fact that he was using a Lane #1 ball does look well for the ball, but doesnt make the ball the reason  he shot 800, honestly, if you know much about the game that statement is just ludicrous.  No one here is saying the Lane #1 balls suck, or arent worth a crap, it's just been said you're money may be better spent on say buying a mid-high performance ball and a spare ball vs one lane #1 ball that isnt going to give you any advantage, all of this my own opinion of course.  But to say Dan only shot an 800 because he finally used a Lane 1 ball is just as ignorant as someone saying Lane 1  balls are pieces of junk...they are not junk, and he did not shoot an 800 based on the ball. k?
