can somebody help explain c/2 - berry
« on: May 13, 2009, 06:22:50 AM »
what were all the c/2 balls ever released ?
the differences in their covers i.e. strengths and characteristics ?

i got my first c/2 ball and just got done using it, and I am in love.

I would love to have my bag filled w/ c/2 balls, but because they are so old i don't really know much about them.

the one i got was the pink raspberry, and it will never leave my bad, but i want more now............imagine that

so if you guys could help me understand a little but more about this i would appreciate it.

** edit **

if lane 1 was smart ( not knocking my favorite company ) they should give some SERIOUS reconsideration to re releasing this core
it is amazing, and the best carry of any L1 ball i have used
hell i would even buy it if big b made it in mexico as long as they put a powercoil 18 cover on it

course G900 is making some great covers these days also

I agree with the C2 core being a great core. The Emerald I used to have, had the C2 core and it is one of my all time favorite balls.

Every Lane#1 that I liked are in the above list, so I guess that the C2 core was the only diamond core that worked well for me.

Edited to add:

At one time I had the following line in my sig and you actually had to read some of it backwards to make any sense of it:

I just want 2C was'zzub.

That seems to be the case for all who hate the Lane 1 brand.  The C/2 core line was the best they've ever put out.  Followed by the Bomb core line.  Those who have tried the C/2 line and hate Lane 1 say they love the C/2 balls.

They definitely should be remade.

I wonder if the greatness of the balls with the C2 core was truly a matter of the matchup of that core with the Brunswick coverstocks, not so much the cores by themselves. In truth, that is what I believe.

Yes, 900Global (BASF) has some great cover/core matchups. Some of their covers with some of Lane#1's cores do seem to match up well.

Regardless of C2 or Bomb core, when Lane#1 switched production to 900Global, I wondered the same thing. It was hard to tell at first with the G Force Buzzsaw Fusion core, because they were never wrapped with a Brunswick cover.

With the introduction of the BuzzBomb (BB), I was able to compare to the Super Carbide Bomb (SCB) and get a better read on this question. The Bomb cores in the two balls are slightly different, but close enough to get a fix on the importance of the core.

Drilled the same, the two balls roll almost identical. There is no question in throwing the two balls that the Bomb core is the motor. So based on my own experience, I'm going with strength of the core.

I'm finding that for all the fanfare on the older Brunswick covers, the 900Global pours seem just as good. They're proven to be durable, and the Lane#1 core characteristics still shine through.

I agree, I have been using my Pearl Cherry for the last year, and it has proven to be long lasting, with no sign of ball death.  I have recently purchased the Chainsaw Massacre, but have yet to have it drilled.

After Columbia did Brunswick not make their covers and then 900 Global?

As I understand it, it was Brunswick, then Columbia for four or five balls (Uranium HRG, G-Force Solid, G-Force Evolution, G-Force Nebula I'm sure about, not so sure about the original Supernova), then 900Global starting with either the Supernova or Supernova XP.

I have two balls from the Columbia era (HRG, Evo) and three from the 900G era (XP, BuzzBomb/R, Chainsaw). I've yet to throw the Chainsaw, but I can tell a difference between the Columbia and 900G covers and the Brunswick covers. The Columbia/900G stuff is more angular.
