Buzzbomb continued
« on: May 22, 2008, 06:32:56 AM »
Just shot a 781 three game scratch with the second Buzzbomb.  I've been working a lot with the second Buzzbomb Lane 1 sent me and I am having tremendous success.  I got it out of my head that is was a hook monster and an heavier oil ball and I have been using the Buzzbomb on medium to medium heavy conditions.  The Buzzbomb is a tremedous ball and works on a variety of lane conditions.

I decided to totally plug the first Buzzbomb and move the pin above the fingers rather then below to see if I can get rid of some of the bottom weight.  I hope to use a little bit of Bean's Secret Sauce on it so I can have
a 1-2 punch with the Buzzbombs.  Hope it works because the second Buzzbomb realy has me curious.

Did you mean thumb weight & not bottom weight? You can't get rid of bottom weight by just moving the pin.

The first and second Buzzbomb was not drilled that differently.  The first had the pin under the ring finger cg kicked right about 1 1/2 inches.  Ritchie sent me the second Buzzbomb and recommended putting the pin under the bridge and kicked the cg about 1 1/2 inches right.  Not that different but the second one wound up with more top weight though.  Must of had more top weight to start with.

My PAP is bout 4 7/8 and 3/8 up.  I'm  mid to mid/low tracker.

I've seen a few Buzzbombs show up in my summer PBA league.  One guy in particular had been having problems getting his equipment to do much.  He also had a Black Widow and something from Lanemasters (Terminator I believe).  The Buzzbomb looked really good in his hands the last week on Chameleon.  The ball really revved up nice, read the midlane well, and had a solid back end.  Very strong looking roll.  However, I don't know how good the ball is yet.  For some reason, this past week of Chameleon had a lot more hook then the first two weeks.  To me, it acted pretty much like a tighter house shot.  In two weeks (no bowling for Memorial day), we go to Scorpion.  If the ball still looks good in this lower rev bowler's hands, I think it will be a winner in my eyes.

I just dropped from 16 to 15, the Buzzbomb was the only ball in my bag that I was going to replace with a 15, all the others were going to be replaced with something else. The 16lb ball had a 3.5" pin, placed above ring cg kicked out. the 15lb ball has a 1-2" pin placed below the ring with the cg also kicked out. My driller Otis Pillow and son Billy drilled them both and made absolutely sure there was no bottom or thumb weight, just finger, side or top. I thought the 16lb. was a beast until I sent the 15lb ball down the lane the first time last week, granted I do get more revs from the 15lb. ball but holy smokes does this thing hook and in the heaviest oil I have seen all year, it starts huge in the midlane and never stops it only gets stronger in the back end. My pap is 5.7 over .7 up and I am a pretty high tracker. It has been said more than a few times on here to place the pin below fingers and cg kicked out with NO thumb or bottom weight, I now tend to believe this to be good advice, for I just cannot believe a few more revs alone made such a difference.
