buzzbomb mini-review
« on: May 08, 2008, 11:21:07 AM »
just arrived today and i drilled it up..

http://h1.ripway.com/longlip/buzzbomb.JPG

first impression..i love it...only used on broke down ugly house shot..they didnt run them today..the ball was strong mid-lane with continous  backend...only threw it about 30 times but struck 25 of them..never leaving a single pin..if i didnt strike it was because i threw it bad...i will get to see what it does on the shark tomorrow and will update...so far i dont see what people are talking about with the ball not hooking and hitting..mine is a monster...for the static wt freaks it has 1/2 oz thumb and 1.2 oz of side(will put wt hole in tonight to correct the side wt issue)

Amazing what happens when you know how to throw a ball correctly. Good to hear the ball produces for you.

Well obviously if you throw a ball correctly you'll get a much better reaction.  How many of us on this site throw it perfect though?

Make sure you put the hole where it won't take more thumb out. Put it lower so you add finger wt.

Beans,

You said "Make sure you put the hole where it won't take more thumb out. Put it lower so you add finger wt."

If the wh is put lower it will take out thumb and add finger.
I do not undertand your recommendation.

Very similar to my first Buzzbomb and the ball puked.  I still think it was the ball and not all Buzzbombs.  I'm pretty sure that Beans ment to say less thumb weight is what you're looking for and thats the reason for a lower balance hole.

That said, since I drilled the second Buzzbomb and have been throwing it for  couple of weeks I can honestly say the Buzzbomb is a great ball. I no longer look for  ton of back end tht I thought the Buzzbomb was going to have and only play what the lane gives me.  The Buzzbomb is strong but controllable and carry is tremendous.  If lined up with the Buzzbomb, I cn sty longer with it then I can with other bowling balls in my arsenl with the same cover prep and drilling relizing that there are other factors, but enough to make a comparison.

Occssionaly I will bring out the first Buzzbomb and throw it side by side with the new Buzzbomb and the results are the same.  I'm trying to work with the cover prep with Bean's Secret Sauce to see if I can work this ball in to my arsenal but I hope the THS Teal will fill this hole.

Be sure to try a TRUE 1000 Grit with light Secret Sauce. By true I mean make sure the abrasive is pretty new and not worn.

Very helpful Steven.

I guess anytime you get an undesirable ball reaction, you should learn to throw the ball "correctly".

Just curious...does Walter Ray Williams throw the ball correctly, or does Robert Smith?

Well, thank you Nova.

The Buzzbomb is not a ball that should ever provide an undesirable reaction if set up correctly for a given style, and thrown with prerequisite ability to judge an aggressive ball like this fairly.

I'm not quite the ball whore you are, but I throw enough of different brands and just about every different type of ball to know a flat out winner from  something that will successful in only specific situations.

The Buzzbomb falls into the 'flat out winner' category. I've thrown it on fresh THS, spotty THS, and my PBA pattern league (including Nationals shot), and it's one of the most effective pieces I've ever owned. I've watched bowlers of many different styles have success with it. So, I'm convinced that if someone 'thinks' they have issues with the BB, it's in fact more bowler related than anything else.

Before being labeled a kool-aid drinker, I wouldn't say this about every Lane#1 offering. I can understand bowlers having complaints about pieces like the Golden Nugget and the Cranberry, because they are balls that are more style and condition specific. On the other hand, the BB is a ball that any higher end THS hack (and above) should love.

You were so anxious to jump down my throat that you immediately took my 'correctly' statement out of context. 'Correctly' has nothing to do with a specific style. It's being continuously effective with any style you've developed to be versatile, competitive, and successful. There is no reason that either a Walter Ray or Robert Smith style couldn't find success with the BB.

Hope all this helps clear things up for you.

I would expect this to be true of any modern high performance bowling ball.

Essentially you are saying that it's about matching up. This has always been the case with any ball and every bowler.

As for taking things out of context, how could I? Your comment was short and sweet. "Amazing what happens when you know how to throw a ball correctly." To me that means, "Anyone having truoble with the ball is not throwing it right". If that is not what you meant, you could have taken a few seconds to type a more clear response.

Must agree with ya Nova, seeing that i'm one of the one's who did not have success with the BB, when i read the comment i felt insulted.  I just got back home from practicing with my New BB, Supernova, Carbide Plus, Nebula.  My Carbide Plus puts them all to shame! The BB is not Burning up and i was throwing them right, one after another.  Don't get me wrong the BB is good ball, but as of now my Carbide Plus is better, just my 2 cents. (at least i'm honest!)
