Uranium HRG Opinions
« on: January 14, 2008, 11:53:47 AM »
Thinking of getting this ball for light to medium conditions, wooden lanes, synthetic heads, sloppy backends. Thought pin over ring, cg in center of grip. My PAP is 5" over, high track, medium revs. 15 - 16 mph, tweener. Any advice appreciated. Used Roto Grip Silver Streak SE and worked fine, but last night at league, destroyed cover in track area by ball return.

This ball needs dry IMO to work, it is LONG... and then moves. destroys when it gets there.. I knocked the shine off mine and liked it better...

I have two of them. My PAP is close to yours...5 over 1/2 up.

One is box condition, modified Label drill, pin 2" from PAP, CG just above thumb. Ended up with 3/4 thumb weight, no side weight. This ball is a gem on a fresh house shot (on synthetics in my case).

The other is scuffed lightly with green scotchbrite. Pin under ring (4.5 from PAP) CG out (PAP, pin, CG angle of 60 degrees). Weight hole 2" down on VAL. This ball is better when the shot is squirrely. I like this one better with carry down. It reads a little sooner, and moves a little smoother on the backend.

The ball should work well for your intended use. I agree with Buzzhead's remarks. Mine is still in OOB condition.

Both of mine I've had were OOB surface. They worked best when you have some dry boards to work with. It's not going to really dig in heavier oil.

I liked mine for the twig shot. Mine was slightly polished and really did not like carry down. I never hit mine with scotchbrite? That could have helped???

I'd be wary of this ball with sloppy backends.  It tends to skate until it finds some dry boards.

Depending on your game, layout and surface, you might be able to make it work, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
