Favorite Drillings for the Solid Uranium???
« on: January 05, 2008, 03:46:56 AM »
Recently picked up a used solid uranium. Really have no preferences on how I want to drill it. Not looking to fill any certain gap so I'm curious as to what drillings and layouts you guys found that matched up well with your Uranium.

I like playing straighter, almost up five or six. Or angled towards the pocket. I found good success playing this line with the Trooper, a mild urethane. On different shots though, I might need more bite in the oil. Now I'm thinking of using a mild drill to get down the lane and have a smooth backend. Polish it up maybe as well. Any ideas, comments?

I have two of them.

Ball one:
Label 1:30 drill (pin above and right of ring finger...4" from pap, CG in palm...shifted slightly right of center...no weight hole).
This ball gets down the lane well, and makes a strong arc motion towards the pocket. This ball is very playable over a wide array of conditions with simple coverstock adjustments (which the ball responds very well to).

Ball two:
CG Axis drill (pin right of ring finger...3.5" from pap, CG on PAP...large weight hole on PAP).
This ball is very smooth and even arcing. It rolls early even on heavy conditions. This ball is useless on light to medium conditions. I drilled it only to use on heavy patterns, and I leave the cover at a dull 400 grit.

Pin under ring, cg kicked right w/weight hole. Nice arc, great roll, plus still great backend.
