Buzzbomb Update (apology)
« on: April 05, 2008, 05:01:16 AM »
Well,i finally got my New Buzzbomb drilled that Mr. Buzzsaw was so kind to replace. Even though he recommend a 4x4 drilled, i decided to go with RICO, but i was willing to plug the ball and drill it 4x4.  I just love the control that i got with my supernova xp (rico).  I must say that i am very impressed with the ball.  I was able to throw 6 games last night without the ball burning up and let me tell you about the HIT, pretty dog gone good! I would like to apologize to anyone who may have not purchased a buzzbomb because of my comments. I wish i had another one to drill 4x4!  This ball is NOT A DUD!

I used my rico'd Buzzbomb on a heavy THS. I only used it once on a medium THS. If I kept my speed way up, it was fine. I just wanted to see what it would do. I knew it would be ideal for heavier conditions.

Rico doesn't get real early for you?

With the core/cover combo, that thing must be super early unless you've got a lot of head oil or hand.

I have two drilled rico and unless I polish them up, they are done by mid-lane..

Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in one of those balls you keep buying!!

Yes, i had good head oil, plus i was swinging the ball, which is what i wanted from the ball.  the ball is still OOB condition.  Can't wait to try in my Sunday night league tomorrow.

Nova, you being sold on Rico with your buzz also played a role in me drilling mine that way.  I'll be bowling my first State Tourney in May and wanted to be able to play the buzzbomb, I might wear my Buzzbomb Polo

1st of all, I would like to commend AK for his willingness to come out and openly apologize; that takes courage and speaks volumes on his chracter.

Now, down to the question as to what would a Rico drilling do for someone with my profile?  I welcome all those who are well versed in Rico to take a look, and to share their thoughts.  I would like to add that Mr Buzzsaw's layout suggestion happens to be my favorite layout, and has always worked well with the Buzzsaws I have placed it on.

Well done AK47, and as always WELL DONE Richie, Chuck, and all the Lane 1 family.

Although Your a Tweener and I'm more of a Cranker, the rest of your SPECs are similar to mine.  That being said, I don't think you'll be disappointed. You won't see that powerfull SNAP you see from 4x4, but your should see a more even, smooth, powerfull ARC.

When you say Med/High tracker how high are you?

I don't think AK47 should have aploligized.  Sorry.  My first Buzzbomb was a dud.  Even after I sent it back to Lane 1, all they did wsa put a balance hole in a weird spot and it gave it some reaction.

Before you kill me though,  I did just drill up the second Buzzbomb and I am having tremendous success with it.  The second Buzzbomb is night and day different and it is drilled slightly different.  The pin was halfway between the ring finger and the bridge (underneath) CG kicked right and the seond one was drilled with the pin under the bridge and the CG basically in the same place.  The ball gets down the lane consistantly, comes off the break point very well and gets into a tremendous roll.

So I don't think that the line of Buzzbombs are a dud, but like some real bombs, some are duds.  I think there was a batch or maybe just a few Buzzbombs that got out in the beginning that were duds.

I'm going to compare the two Buzzbombs at my next practice.

I knew that would be your findings, i still suspect a bad run of the first one's made no reason to sweat about it.
