thanks urban for the link... I like the ball's movement yet what oil is this played on?

and the polished shot looked as if the ball rolled out which I don't understand... or is it the camera position playing tricks on me...

well... all I say is my own oppinion and from my knowledge a polished ball should not roll out...

But when you say it were heavy conditions the movement I think I saw makes sense...

No offense!

(FYI, I haven't watched the video, I'm at work right now) He said the shot was laid down the previous night.  But oil sure has a way of changing after sitting on the lane for nearly a full day!!

You and Mav seem so amazed at this statement, yet i have shot on spot shots when hooking the ball 20 boards wasnt enough.  Remember sport shots don't always mean heavy oil, just the ratio of 3:1 or less.

I think that what they mean (and I agree) is that no ball is going to react like that with heavy carry down.

Yes, thats what I meant, if this is a carried down sport shot, there is no way that ball is bouncing like that on the backend, unless someone is down there hitting it with a pool cue.

Mav: Given your style, you could probably use a piece that can open up the lane a little for you. Regardless, why such hostility?

Steven,

This ball would be useless for me.
I dont need to open the lane to be successful.

When I project to the right, im less accurate than on a tight line.
Sport shots over the summer have tightened me up nicely.
Im further right, with more speed and revolutions, with a tighter line, and higher scores than last season.

On monday nights, they've changed the oil composition to something more viscous since christmas break, I will solve this puzzle with my head, and not with another ball.

Hanging out with Sawbones on BowlingChat.net has changed the way I think about lane play. No need to worry about a ball next season, im taking my game to the next level by using my Urethane Axe all year.

As much as you'd like to think a ball with more surface makes a difference, it doesnt, its all in your head, simplify your lane play, then you will see the light.

Mav: Like always, the answer is that 'it depends'. The Shark patterns I've bowled on in PBA experience leagues over the past year generally play inside. Outside is out of bounds -- absolutely no recovery. Playing tight is a very 'iffy' proposition. It generally requires going down to such a weak reaction that carry starts to become an issue. So if the answer is to play deep inside, A strong ball like the Resurgence or BuzzBomb can help provide for the appropriate angle of entry.

I'm thinking about experimenting with Urethane to see if it provides a different look where I'm forced deeper than I'd like. I have the Liberator on order to try things out with.

There are always exceptions to the rule.
I stand by what I said based on what I and many here bowl on 99% of the time.
