I got my Uranium Solid punched up yesterday. First off, mine had a matte finish to it, not polished. I had my driller put a little finishing compound on it before I took it to the lanes, as I didn't want the thing burning up on contact. For me, the Uranium Solid gives me the same look that my original did, just on heavier patterns. Compared to the BCB, the Uranium Solid reads the midlane sooner and has more of an arc shape on the back, rather than the snap of the BCB. Don't be misled, however, the Uranium's move is very strong and continuous. When it starts to move, it doesn't stop, and the hit is punishing! In my opinion, most bowlers probably won't need a BCB and a Uranium Solid, as there isn't a huge difference between them. Of course, coverstock prep and drilling could change that. If the two balls are drilled and prepped alike, expect the Uranium to read earlier and to be smoother in it's transition than the BCB. The same thing is true when dealing with the pearl cousins of both of these balls. Therefore, if you're a person who carries a lot of gear then you might want both, as there are certain times when snap works better than arc, and vise versa. However, if you're a person who wants 1 ball for heavy, 1 for medium, 1 for light, etc, pick whichever reaction shape you like better and stick with it. Here are some arsenal suggestions:
