Buzzsaw THS
« on: March 07, 2009, 01:23:13 PM »
The Buzzsaw THS OOB is 1200 grit with polished. What will be the difference in reaction if I am to sand it to 2000 grit abralon instead ? Thanks !

Usually used it when my Dynamo is too much ball...down board 7, small J. It's time for me to re-con the ball and instead of going for 1200 grit and polished, I thought of going for 2000 grit without polished. Hoping that I will get the same type of ball reaction.

I think you will find that it "starts-up" earlier, and is a little stronger overall, with just a little less "pop" on the back-end, at least that is what mine did at 2000ab. I now keep mine at a base sanding with green scotchbrite and the Secret Sauce applied with medium pressure(shiny but not a marble, and still able to see the base sanding lines a little). It now gets the length, is still very smooth, and got its little "pop" on the backend back, and is just a little stronger overall, at least this is what it did for me, hope this helps.

You have to remember abralon grit is not the same as reular grit on sandpaper and scotchbrite. Abralon 2000 is equal to 1000 grit otherwise, so by going to 2000 abralon, you are actually adding surface (rougher than 1200) and knocking off the polish, which in both cases will make the ball read earlier and have less pop on the back. That is why pakman saw it be "stronger" with less "pop".

I should have added, in order to get a true 2000 grit, you need 4000 abralon.
