For the last 12 years, my arsenal has been dominated by Storm. That's not all I've thrown, and there have been times (like about a year and a half ago, when I briefly went with Track before migrating back to Storm) when I've thrown several different companies.

I switched to Storm for good around the time the original X-Factor came out, and for good reason. I still consider that ball to be the best ball ever made by any company, with second place being a fairly big step behind.

Prior to that, I'd gone back and forth between Storm and AMF. During all this time, I had a total of three Lane #1 balls: A Cherry C/2 Pearl that I used completely up and then gave away, and a Gold Nugget and an Enriched Uranium that I hated.

Then, earlier this year I found a Nugget cheap that had a different drill pattern and surface prep than the one I had before, and tried it out. I was very successful with it. Then, a member here, SprayNPray, suggested I get a Tsunami H20. I did, and liked it as much or better.

The cinch for this deal came last week. I went to the Alabama State Bowling Tournament and couldn't get anything to work other than my two Lane #1 balls. The rest of my team did OK but I was the only one to put up big numbers at any point.

I've tried to figure out why this is happening, and best I can tell, it's happening based on a change in my game. During my heyday with Storm, I threw with a wrist brace, with virtually no tilt to speak of, and was a speed-dominant player. These days, there is no wrist brace, my revs are way up and I can modify my release a lot easier. I have much more tilt.

I've gone from not matching up with Lane #1 at all, to matching up with it better than most anything in my collection.

So in the last couple of weeks, I've procured a used Dirty Bomb and a new Evolution. I'm going to bowl extensively with them over the next month and if I like them as much as I hope I do, I'm probably going to shift my preferences full-time.

Which means I'll have to find something to do with about 20 Storm balls. (g) Actually, I still like many of them -- Storm's a great, great company -- but if my game doesn't match their core/cover combos anymore, a change must be made.

The first one I'd add would be a Supernova XP. If you want one ball to tear up a normal house shot, you can't go wrong. Several guys around here have started using the XP and it looks great in everyone's hands.

Strider is right on here. The XP is probably the most versatile ball in the Lane#1 line-up right now. I'm generally not a big fan of pearls, but this one smoothes out much of the over/under you'd normally expect.

I really like my solid Supernova and BuzzBomb, but the XP is a ball you can stay with longer.

I'll agree with the XP, I didn't give mine much of a chance at first but it's really shined as of late...

being i am in an area where lane 1 is well represented, i see them quite frequently and maintain that lane 1 product has the best look in the hand of someone who is not rev challenged. the younger, more agile, and stronger players who turn up the ball really utilize lane 1 to their best. i liked by g force evolution on drier patterns but have not found the other ones i have tried to match up well with me. again that is not a slam on their product in any way. i am not an a-list talent bowler admittedly. i wish i had the revs and smooth release of some of the better bowlers in this area. but i think for every player out there, there is a brand that gives them the most miss room. life is good when you find up what balls and drillings do that for you. that is why i keep trying.

First of all Im a Lane#1 guy as well....I have the DirtyBomb Hybrid, Cherry pearl and the Cobalt Solid.

Secondly...There is nothing wrong with Storm, Ive used storm in the past as well. I have the Depth charge, and the XXX Factor, both great balls.

In my opinion there are 2 specific things to look at: The new storm equipment may not be matching up to your game as the old stuff was. And as far as the brace....when you`re without a brace, the wrist is more free, you can cup the ball, and be more firm on the delivery. That may explain the sudden jump in rev rate.

Remember, the brace is to help lock the wrist and forearm for a straighter and smoother delivery.

Lane#1 has great products to chose from....( I love the Super Nova XP ) But, Dont totally give up on storm either. The Secret Agent is the closest thing to the X-Factor that i can see...Give it a try, and see what you think.

I don't intend on completely getting out of the Storm line. I've got two Paradigms that will be part of my tournament arsenal until they both blow up. One of them is a pro-pin ball with an 11.5-inch pin that I couldn't replicate if I wanted to.

I also like the FE2-cored balls (Dark Thunders, Thunderstrucks) and will keep them.

What this is going to do, most likely, is keep me from buying too much different stuff from too many people. If I see a Storm ball I'd like to try (I've had my eye on a Paradigm Domination for over a year), I'll probably go ahead and do it. But Lane #1 will probably make up the bulk of my arsenal going forward.

I used nothing but Lane 1 back in the late 90's and early 2000,shot several honor scores. For some unknown reason I strayed away from Lane 1. Then about a couple of years ago I picked up a used pearl uranium. Then 2 weeks ago picked up a G Force. Shot back to back 700's,with the G-Force. I'm back to stay with Lane 1.
