I won't act like I know a lot about this company because I don't.  I tried out the Cobalt Solid and I must say it is one of the worst bowling balls I have ever used in my life.  I can't use it for anything.  It hooks weak on strikes and can't be used for a spare ball.

CHECK OUT MY FULL REVIEW for details.

I would like to know how this ball ranks among the rest of Lane #1 products.  I bought it pumped up by the song on the website and all the videos with "Lane 1 baby, Lane 1!".  The ball turned out to be a total inconsistent weak hitting dud.

I have gotten some PM's by others that even agree.  So yeah, I am shocked.  For a company that is notorious for selling very expensive bowling balls, what is up with this ball?  Also, I heard they use Brunswick covers?  Are they another Elite?

Explain please.

Well I will have unlimited practice at my bowling center starting next week for the whole summer.  So I will work on this ball and my others including my game.  I can't wait.  I am going to try to totally change my style since my wrist/hand have taken abuse for far too long!

Necro,

I have that same drill on my Hybrid Dirty Bomb but my weight hole is in the thumb positive quadrant. I had heard some people just don't match up with a stacked drilling with a bomb core, mine is not the case. Mine is a BEAST!

But I did make sure my side weight was about a 1/2oz or less (static weight). Not sure what this does for it but it sure rolls sweet. Might want to check yours. Now what is that finish on yours. Looks to be about 800-1000? Since you are pinging ten pins (or corners) I would have to assume it may be burning off too much energy. Might want to take it to about 2000 with no polish first, then if that don't work try 1000 with ruff buff finish.

Sorry I can't help much more than that...

Yeah, I plan on polishing a few of my bowling balls this summer to see what that does.  My rev rate has kept increasing since I have been working on changing my game.  I am thinking you guys are right that the ball is dead by the time it hits the pins.  Maybe I won't sell it afterall!  I do like that song on the website though "Lane 1 BABY!"

I guess some balls just don't match up with everyone's game, especially if they do not have a layout to compliment their style and lane conditions.

I have two Cobalt Solids and its one of the more versatile balls in my aresenal. Sorry its not working out for you right now. You never know, I've tried new balls and some have never worked out for me the first couple of weeks. I'll end up putting it away in my basement and then I'll pull it out again months down the road and BHAM, GOLD.

Good luck

I've owned just about every ball Lane#1 has come out with in the past 2 years and I must say the Solid Cobalt was my least favorite.  It just didn't work good for me either.

The cobalt solid was extremely funny for me....

I drilled a customers one, a 4.75 by pin 2 inches above midline, cg stacked with no XH, and liked its roll (Similar spans)when I had a throw.

Knowing this, I drilled one for myself with exactly the same specs, and mine wouldn't move or hit. It just seemed DOA, on the same conditions, and side by side, mine seemed a good 15 boards weaker with no backend and no ability to generate friction on the dry.

Maybe there was a bad batch?

Sounds like my ball.  I tested in practice one time and just kept rolling it down between the 1st and 2nd arrow.  Same revs, same speed, and sometimes it would come back to the pocket strong and sometimes it would never make it back or hit very weak.  I don't think the core has that much influence.  But now I don't know.  I still gotta test it when super polished.

I actually have found tremendous success with the Cobalt Solid.  It and my Tsunami are a formidable 1-2 punch with my 2nd Tsunami and XXXL rounding out the lineup.  Hate to hear that you didnt find yours fulfilling.
