I won a Cherry Bomb from Varsitybowling.com and i honestly have zero previous experience with Lane1 bowling balls. Well I'm presently under contract with Visionary Bowling Products for the season. So because of contract obligations i'm going to give the ball to my friend. He has pretty much an identical game to me maybe a bit higher speed. Drillings like 4x2 and 4x3 and 4x2 have worked extremely well for me and those principals worked well for him as well.

His present Go to ball is his Blue Sparkle gryphon for house shots but we are playing on a new summer league using a new oil pattern. there will be an out of bounds area past the 7 board not much will come back if you get it into that OB area, so i'm thinking with a ball this strong will play very well deep inside for him. possibley 4 arrow out to 7 board( 45ft) and back. this ball is pushed as very strong ball that goes long. but i'm not sure how to drill this one.

I don't know exactly how this type of core would in reality react for him.

his axis point is 4 1/2 and his rev rate is about 360-400

any advice about this ball to anything else that compares to stuff like
Red fuze, or x factor.

and these numbers for the ball seem almost unreal. 8 inches of flare and an diff of .071?

it's rare to see any ball in the .06 range.

The Cherry is a ton like a new Raging Red. If you're gonna miss, miss outside, and drill it to go longer, because the core makes it rev off your hand, and it'll take off before the backend. A very strong ball, and a very good ball. Just too much for me. If you've got higher speed or lower revs, this ball is for you. Or if you're a tweener or cranker, you'll LOVE this ball, you can just shoot it out right, and it'll plow back.

FYI, I've read quite a few times now on this site that you should avoid off label drillings with the bomb core. Something about not stacking Lane#1 balls comes to mind.

I just wanted to get that out there. Hopefully some of the Lane#1 gurus can clarify. I know I read clump saying something about not stacking or leveraging your Lane#1.

I peronally did not like stacking the pin and cg. But I did like either the drilling that were 1:30, label leverage or the cg kicked right. I tried these two drilling on several Lane 1 balls noting there was a significant reaction difference, but for me the stacked leverage drillings was to unpredictable. Maybe others had better experiences with stacked leveraged drillings on Lane 1 equipment and we'll hear from them.

I have had several stacked and found that I get a better reaction by shifting the CG left or right. Especially with a high ball speed you want a 4 x 2 or 5 x 2. My ball speed is 17.7 to 18.5 and I still tweak coverstock to get the read I want.

I have experienced the same thing with stacked drillings. Richie at Lane #1 has said in the past to move the cg to tilt the core, so that the ball is not so jumpy at the breakpoint for some and for others so that it will not burn up.

My cherry bomb is drilled 5x4 and it is a monster when it smells the dry. It hooks much more than I expected.

I've been giving this ball some thought. From the majority of comments everyone says it seems to rev up very quickly.
So the possiblity of Rev Leverage is a bit too strong.(3 3/8 x 3, with weight hole near thumb)
So was also thinking maybe label leverage, but the cg in a 1.30 direction i found creates too much slide sometimes.I was even considering 4 1/2 ( pin above fingers) and 3 3/8, or i think i should just stick with my original idea of 4x3

I don't know really what to do with this ball, it could be too much or just not enough, lol.

i have one drilled lable, i throw med revs and med- mad high speed. i can play in the oil or move it out and play less revs and let the lane do the turning. if you want to get inside i think it would be wise to go with the "lable high pin" drilling on the lane 1 drill sheet that comes with it. lable is nice but could be more aggressive ( not that i need it) but if you want the corners to carry playing in any sort of heavier oil i say go agressive on the drill. just my .02
