Can This Be Fixed?

I have an army green carbide bomb with two cracks through the pin.  The larger one on top is pretty clear in the pic (it runs halfway around the ring fingerhole), and there's a smaller one running through the bottom of the pin:

Do you think this is worth trying to fix?  Do I just plug the fingerholes, and redrill them below the pin?

The finger holes are fairly sharp aroung the edge and could use some beveling/sanding. This is one of the reasons balls crack around the fingers.

You can fix the situation by drilling out the cracks and plugging the fingers. Just because there are hairline cracks, doesn't mean it'll ever chip out. A good sanding/beveling might do the trick.

If you decide to plug the holes, the plug is weaker than the urethane and will be prone to chipping, especially if you're using "super glue" to glue in the grips. An epoxy glue is recommended in either situation, whether plugging or not. =:^D

Just wanted to thank T-GOD and Lane1Bowler for their advice, and show everyone the results of the doctor's operation:

He drilled out the whole affected area, including the pin, and plugged it.  No more cracks!  Can't wait to give it a try...

Sea, it looks like the span is a lot shorter, unless the thumbhole was also plugged and moved..? It looks like it was a job well done.

One thing to remember though..If you're using super glue for the inserts, this may aid in the cracking of the plug material. For all intensive purposes, the ball should be fine. Good luck with it. =:^D

T-GOD, yes the span is a lot shorter.  This was a ball I bought used, so the original span was not mine.

I agree, he did a nice job.

Just FYI, that would be "for all intents and purposes".
