chainsaw massacre
« on: April 22, 2009, 02:19:01 AM »
OK, I heard back from Lane 1, and they suggested the Chainsaw Massacre.  The numbers are close, so it looks like it might be what I want, but has anyone thrown it yet?  If so, what's it like?

I always have my BTM around the 22nd at the latest, but haven't received this month's issue yet. We moved and even though I sent in an address change last month by Email, that may still be why I haven't received it yet.

of course i must be ignorant as the only claims i have seen in print from lane 1 are these

Lane #1 is pleased to introduce the new Chainsaw Massacre. This pin slaughtering machine is covered by our popular pearl Bleeder Coverstock and driven by our famous bomb shape MassaCore. The Chainsaw Massacre bites down hard, butchering medium oiled lanes. Watch this ball carve through the pins, turning them into sawdust for a massacre of high scores..!!

looks like typical marketing with some discriptive adjectives.  Having throw it, it is a very hard charging, big direction turning, hard hitting ball on medium conditions, I have enough hand to throw it on heavier stuff, but i wont tout it for that since it is intended for the medium stuff.

now if there are other claims, i havent seen those yet

I guess what BTM review of the ball suggests that it's nothing to write home Mom about and the the Sawheads are really the only one in love with it.

Seems they weren't that impressed, that's all..

Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in one of those balls you keep buying!!

It's quite obvious why. This is not ball of the year. You can only go downhill from ball of the year, until next year.

pretty decent looking review to me.  BTM states pretty much what lane 1 says great ball for med condtions for all styles, BTM rates stroker/tweener/cranker on med oil as 8.5/9/9 those are very respectable numbers on a 1-10 scale

their overall quote

the Chainsaw Massacre ia all about the breakpoint.  Those looking for a ball that gets down the lane with ease ans saves almost everythiing for the breakpoint and backend will really like this one

not sure what part of this says they "didnt" like the ball.  The didnt like it on longer or sport shots, but the ball wasnt made for that, no ball that is long by nature or snappy is made for sport shots

on edit lane #1 ad states pretty much the same numbers, lower rg, 4" flare, they dont agree with hook rating or backend hook (although having thrown the ball for me those numbers are pretty darn close)

lane 1 ad doesnt claim jaw dropping numbers

hook rating 95-120
backend 95%
flare 4"
diff .038

right one par with what BTM stated
other then hook rating

Those are respectable numbers, just not the jaw-dropping ball that everyone at lane#1 says it is including those in this forum.

That's all.

It's just another ball that goes long and turns hard. Evey ball company has one of these..

so true but every other ball company also puts the same claim on their stuff as far as hook rating and backend, but we dont see them being called out, and in this case lane #1 was pretty spot on with their assesment and for whatever reason gets called out

for me the Chainsaw massacre opens a new chapter for lane 1 or at leasts revisits one the pearl cherry bomb to me didnt get the length of this ball, nor has most of the other lane 1 stuff, they have always been very midlanish and lacked that true skid snap look, from my early observations they accomplished that with this one

Ill give you that, I am not one of those to make those claims unless that ball does something special for me, the last 4 releases from lane 1 have given me something different then balls from the past
