I was looking for a ball to use exclusively for league nights.  Preferably to play my favorite down and in shot.

Low and behold I just happened across the drill sheet for the Chainsaw that has a PIN AXIS layout for the down and in shot I love so much.  

So I had my PSG drill one  up for me.  

Needless to say I am more than satisfied.  If this ball is outside of 10 at the breakpoint, it rips through the pocket.  Light hits, washouts, high flush, etc.  If this ball touches the 1-3 pocket, it's damn near 10 in the pit every time.  

The way the ball rolls, it looks like it will hit fluffy (the way I throw it) but the ball just works great.  

Just thought I would share.  I threw 259 the first game but then the opposing team refilled my pitcher of PBR and my game went bust.  LOL.

Oh yeah, ZERO flare on this ball.

I have been debating between the Chainsaw and the Buzzsaw Retro THS.  I have been hearing mostly good things about both balls and I'm leaning towards the Chainsaw.  I mostly bowl on dry to medium conditions with carrydown, so I believe either one would make a good choice.

I believe both the Chainsaw and THS both can be drilled similar.  

The difference is the Chainsaw has a smaller and more dense core design.

Personally, I've seen more people throw the Chainsaw than the THS.

My coach picked up a Chainsaw, and he loves it even more than his Lane #1 Bullet for the dry.  Said the pin carry is phenomenal.

What's the purpose of taking a speciality ball and drilling it pin axis?  By laying the core in the stable position right from the start, you effectively take the core completely out of the equation.  You could take any ball that has the desired cover strength and get the same thing, right?  Something like the planet line from Roto would probabaly fit the bill and would be much cheaper.  Nothing wrong with the Chainsaw in general, just curious why anyone would take an expensive ball and drill it pin axis.

Because, in this case, it just works (with this ball).

There's a reason there's a specific layout on the drill sheet for it.

I love my Chainsaw as well - I shot a 300 in my first game with it .  If it gets near the head pin, it carries.  I am tripping pins and getting scouts like crazy with this ball.  I have never had much of this with any ball before.  

As far a cost goes, for me it was reasonable and in line with most of the other mid-priced balls I could have gotten.

Same here.  There were other moderately priced bowling balls available.  

But when I told my PSG what I wanted/needed in a ball/reaction, he pulled out the Chainsaw and drill sheet.  He stated, this will work for you (pin axis drilling).

My PSG hasn't steered me wrong yet.  In fact, he's raised my average about 10+ pins with his coaching and ball/drilling recommendations.

Sure, Lane #1 costs a smidge more but for the monster ball I got now, it was well worth it.

Chainsaw is money, carry is sensational... 276 in only my third game with it... can't wait to work with it some more.

I have just been having so much fun with my new Chainsaw.  No 300 yet, but this ball is so smooth and predictable, hits hard, and continues through.  Yesterday in practice, had a 5 game average of 237.   Almost had a perfect game until kids on the left and right side of me, walked up in tandem just as I was about to start and threw me off.  That's ok, I was just having so much fun, I really didn't care.

Inverted: It's about time you saw the light. Hopefully you'll continue to spread the word.

This doesn't take away from the Chainsaw. A teammate of mine has one, and it's a very versatile ball on the THS if you have some hand.

funny part of this is i just punched up my chainsaw, threw it whole league set last night and loved the reaction, started on the fresh with a soft hand and as the lane opened up I could firm my speed up and really go at it, ball read the lane well and made a nice pronounced turn and has a very distinct hard hit, mixed pins extremely well
