Chainsaw Question.......

I was just wondering.....

Has anybody changed the surface on their Chain from the polish to maybe 500-1000 grit???

Or any other sanded or sheen surface??

What were your results and what was the difference...

I want to sand mine but I am not bowling right now before the move to Vegas so I was just curious...

they give you a different look.  its easy to understand.    some people need a strong coverstock, but (like myself) anything with surface on it doenst work to well so i keep my solids polished or at a higher grit.

or for weaker stuff , you want a control ball on flippy conditions or blend out the wet dry take the surface down and bada bing bada boom, yer eatin a ham sandwich.

Have you ever tried it?  It gives you a look you can't get with other equipment (much like drilling a strong ball weak or a weak ball strong).  Some nights I can't carry the 10 with my dulled Dimension no matter what, but my pearl equipment is all squirting, so I'll take out my polished Cell and magically I'll have a great look.  Other nights, I need to get some length but not have too much pop on the back when the backends are flying, so I'll take a weaker pearl like a Spit Fire at 1000 abralon and get the exact motion I'm looking for.

Maybe you misunderstood my question Larry M

I know what sanded vs. shiny does and have a good idea what the Chain will do but I was curious how much smoother and earlier it really becomes. With my high tilt it still tends to squirt in any oil. I think I would like a better footprint when the track burns and the ball will read the hold better instead of creating hang...

I've drilled 30 of these balls and I even drilled a few with a big negative CG shift(negative weight) but we didn't change any surfaces. The neg weighted balls read much earlier with less squirt down lane even with the shiny surface.

I have with my chainsaw, but it has all been due to operater error.

I have mine sanded right now, but not down as far as you are asking about. Mine is at 1500us wetsand not p-grit and it is even smoother than oob, but it is also much stronger in overall movement, and of course it starts earlier, for me by about 5 feet. I do not have near the hand Bean's does so take this for what it's worth and I hope it helps.

beans i just got mine from britton i threw it once in league at oob it was a little touchy for me i am taking it to 2000 abralon to try it i will let you know what i find with that surface.
