cherry bomb suggestions
« on: November 18, 2003, 12:53:58 AM »
I'm looking for a exotic drilling for a cherry bomb, I want to be able to play 30 out to around 5 and have the ball make the corner.

the straighter I play the less carry I have
ball specs are as follows:
top weight 4.25 oz
pin at 4 " ball is N.I.B

I'm R/H, ball speed is around 17 - 19 M.P.H
depending how the wrist feels REVS anywhere between 425 to 450+++ r.p.m

any suggestions !!

Capt, You're asking a lot, going from 6th arrow out to 1st arrow and then back. What kind of drillings are you using now..? Maybe a pin above the fingers 4 1/4 x 3 1/2 drilling. =:^D

sorry, I meant my feet at 30 the ball rolling at 20 out to 5 and back
I have tried many pin locations, many weight blocks seems like what ever I throw, I seem to never get a real decent back end reaction all balls seem to roll out  or fade nothing really jumps at the back end.

I've seen guy's with less hand get a better movement at the break point then me, been to 6 different drillers they can't find me the right combination, sanded equipment I can't keep on the right side

try a 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 drilling...it has length and the most angular backend.mostly its down to how you throw the ball...you need revs to bring it back....

Captain,

With Lane#1 balls having an apparent sensitive to pin placements, could it be that your PAP measurement is off and your CB's pin placement is not accurate enough?

With your revs and the CB's low RG and very high flare potential, I think you need to place the pin over the bridge and have it be in the 4-4.5" range (pin to PAP), with around a 90-100 degree core angle. Otherwise, it may burn itself up in the heads and midlane. As someone mentioned, the CB's highly polished cover may be susceptible to carrydown; I am not sure about that myself. However, the PK 18 cover variant, that the CB has, should, with  your revs, be able to handle mild to medium carrydown.

thanks all for the info.

the ball is still in the box undrilled just looking at different drilling suggestions.

I've tried every other company on the market, different weight blocks, different pin locations, weight holes, no weight holes, shiny or sanded ( preffer shiny )
haven't found that perfect drill yet but still looking.

So far Visionary rolls the best, but maybe lane #1 is the answer

thanks again.

Capt., you don't need exotic drillings to make Buzzsaw's work. Just stack the Cherry Bomb around 4 1/2 - 4" and rev it up. Then listen to the sound, BOOM..!! =:^D

My brother throws a cherry bomb, he uses an axis drill. He's a cranker and and his ball has great length and a super backend with great carry.
