After looking at the drilling sheets on Lane #1's website...

I'm pretty sure that a "lable" layout offers the most backend reaction on every ball, but the Pearl and Solid Cobalt. I know all drillings are based off of a bowlers PAP, so lable my not be good for everybody .

I just thought it was kinda funny & suprising that the simplest layout produces the reaction almost everybody wants (in general) !

don't be fooled by it     1:30 label sure has big backend but it is an arcing hook ( over all ) .. you drill the ball with lev. stacked .. you get a stronger backend and sometimes the ball gives you a snap backend instead of an arc.   The length or flare you see also plays part of the ball finish

I have had great success with label drills on every Lane #1 ball (that I have drilled that way), with only one exception. The Carbide Plus. It is a controllable, yet very strong arc, with tons of flare. They only time it is a dud is when you need to play deep inside lines. It just does not finish as hard as a stacked, or CG-out layout.

A label drill works well for some people and not for others. I am one of the "not for others". From my own experience, I feel a safe drill on a Lane 1 ball for someone not knowing what they want or what to do when throwing one for the first time is Pin under RF and CG kicked out.

Brick, the drill you suggest works good for me, but players with higher rev rates may tend to want the pin in a higher position to get the ball down the lane without burning up. You are correct in stating a certain drill is not for everyone. This is why it is so important to have advice from someone who knows both the equipment AND your game.

Pin under ring on my HDB is not what I expected on this ball.. Pin under bridge on my H2O is awsome.. out performing the HDB.. HDB has a nice smooth controlable arch, but no punch off the backend..

Yeah, it is tough sometimes to come up with the correct drill on a ball. Kind of a "crap shoot"....lol.... Up until 1 1/2 to 2 years ago, drills like Pin beside RF and CG stacked, Pin beside RF and CG out, Pin under RF and CG out and similar drills would work for me on most balls both assymetric and symmetric cores.

Then when Track, Storm, and others started making balls with assymetric cores with very strong MB's and very strong cover combinations, those drillings no longer worked for me on those balls. In fact no drilling worked for me on those balls. I decided to return to balls with symmetric cores and those drillings once again seem to work well for me. When I made my latest purchase, an Enriched Uranium, I talked to numerous people that throw Saws and decided on the drilling for the EU of 4 1/4 x 3 1/2 with Pin under RF and it is perfect for me on this ball. Can't speak for others.

I hate pin under drillings. I don't get the backend out them, and just don't match up with them. I've seen alot of people "selling" balls that have the pin under. Maybe they are having the same trouble.

A person has to find what works best for them. I have had good luck with Pin under drillings on most balls. Exceptions to this is some of the balls made by other companies in the last 12 months or so with assymetric cores with extremely strong MB's and strong covers of which I haven't found a drilling to work on any of those balls. My Enriched Uranium has good length and a very strong backend with a Pin under drilling. Pin over fingers has never been a good match-up for me.
