Cobalt Pearl vs Paradigm
« on: September 25, 2006, 05:47:17 AM »
Any comparison between the two? I'm looking for longer and stronger on the backend.

Stats are in profile.

Thanks!

The only thing that I will add to what Sox Fan put is my Cobalt didn't crack like my Paradigm did.

I've been lucky with both my Paradigm and Passion not cracking **Fingers Crossed**, and I've had them both for a while.

Did you see a big difference in carry?

Two different ball reactions now i have the new paradigm domination which changes everything for an angular reaction, the domination is longer and much more angular the pearl cobalt. The domination i have is actually a 1 inch pin with the rad about 2 inches right of my thumb around 5 inch pin to pap and 4 inch mb to pap. I know this is the lane 1 forum but there is a new king of backend reaction in town the Domination

The Cobalt is much more angular than the Paradiegm and more length. You could try the Domination but thus far, you only have one opinion from a bowlingnut (HaHa no pun intended). The Cobalt is a proven comodity.

So the Cobalt pearl is flipper and the Paradigm is more controllable, both handling the same amount of oil.

So what's the problem here. Pick your poison. This is not a case of better or worse, just preference.

Personally, I'll get higher scores with a flippier balls, but I'll average higher with a more controllable ball.

Okay for the record I own both balls and I consider them both to be some of the best equipment that I own.  They both come with me every time I leave the house for a date at the lanes along with a couple other pieces of equipment.  At least with my game I find the Paradigm to handle more oil, up to medium heavy, as compared to the Cobalt which works better on a medium to medium light condition.  The Cobalt is definitely the longer of the two.  I like the hitting power of both balls, they both hit hard and carry. Two GREAT balls from two GREAT companies....

I like my Paradigm, but it just doesn't do what I want it to do on the backend.

A couple of suggestions -
- add polish and use it on lighter oil, or
- add a weighthole to make it flare more; it may need a light added coat of polish, or
- add a weight hole 2" inside your PAP to reduce the flare; it should go longer with more "apparent" backend; it may also need to be used on slightly lighter oil.
- use it on slightly lighter oil, or
- re-drill it.

I believe the weighthole is an 1" inside of my PAP, but I didn't have as many options because of the excessive finger weight.

It's good for when I want to play straight to the pocket, but that's about it.

I like angular equipment, my Ravage is very angular but a bit too soon and again can't swing much with it.

My coach said I need something that 'tilts' more on the backend.

These balls are very different.  The paradigm can handle a lot more oil than the pearl Cobalt.  The Coablt is more for med to light oil while the Paradgim canhandle med to med/heavy.

Ok, I'm sold on the Cobalt.

Any layout suggestions? My sats are in my profile.

I would like to see a big movement on the backend, but I know the coverstock basically would give length naturally. I don't want to drill it weak.
