Cobalt wasnt quite money, so lets try a DIRTY BOMB instead!!
« on: March 29, 2008, 05:28:56 PM »
Picking one up soon and have been given pretty reliable info that is is a better piece than the Solid Cobalt(by the same guy i bought the Cobalt off) Anyone else still throwing them?

ps
The Cobalt was OK at times and it might find its way up to where im living now but it seemed to either strike, leave a 2-10 or a 3-6-10 in equal amounts. With pin 4 1/2 from pap it seemed a bit weak for me but with pin at 3" from PAP, cg pretty close to PAP and hole below my midline it was pretty strong, just not real consisient. Im thinking it might be a bit more usable now where i see Synthetics with clean backs pretty often instead of the bashed up wood i was using it on before

From the Dirty Bombs I've had, you need a little dry boards to really make it shine. At least the OOB condition, for me, it was pretty oil sensitive. My wife and daughter have both used them, with alot of success.

Ive got both of them....Fatboy8 is right, both of them are oil sensitive. As a matter of fact, the Cobalt may be the better of the two in their oob conditions. I found that "my" Cobalt will turn the corner when a line is found.....Not so with the Dirty Bomb. It`s definitely for drier boards.

I forgot to add, that both my wife's and daughter's were dulled to about 1000 or so abralon, with NO polish on them also.

I haven't owned a Dirty Bomb, but I wasn't very impressed with the Solid Cobalt...

i have dirty bomb stacked and this ball is a flat out monster off the dry in the backend with explosive carry at least for me. I can play down and in in the 1st game and can swing it in the 3rd game. i absolutely love it!
also, you should try cobalt (PEARL) this ball is pin under cg out and it will not leave a 10 pen with crazy carry and on drier lanes you can hook the whole lane and still carry. just my 2 cents

Oh I totally agree.  I see allot of people not liking the Solid G-Force, but it's my #1 ball.

I loved my Dirty Bomb.  AK47 said it best regarding reaction off the dry.  Very aggressive if you have dry to work with, but will skate in oil for sure... Some of the best carry I have ever gotten out of a ball.

quite funny cause on my 3rd drill with G-Force(rico) and i may have finally got it, just got to get surface now.  The reason i'm working so hard with G-Force is cause the carry is just sick, in a good way.

I like it!!! Even with the pin over ring finger layout on it(which i thought i didnt like) it wasnt squrt/jump in its reaction at all. Shot +278 for the last 8 games with it at a skins tourney last night(after using dull stuff and getting flat 10'd to hell the first 2 games!!)  Damn shame people kept knocking me back to 3rd for the game and out of the skin $ for all but one of those games!!! The surface reads the lanes so different to the Cobalt, gotta feeling i'll like it when my homecentre goes synthetic in a couple weeks too.

Another nice showing with the Dirty Bomb, a PB of 2355 for 10 games and a couple hundred hundred bucks spending money from my local combined scratch/handicap tour this weekend, a 289 too where i threw the 11th a bit soft!!
