D. B. S.- Dead Ball Syndrome (Pink Panther)
« on: April 10, 2011, 11:28:24 AM »
Looking for any suggestions to get my Pink panther hooking again...I religiously clean it after every session and after only 50 gms (give or take a couple) it has died on me.  I brought out a brunswick rattler and it gave me over six more board movement---am a little disappointed and looking for a little advice, thank you very much

A good bowler who loved the panther till it stopped moving

I would lean towards having it baked in the Rejuvenator to extract any oil that would be in the cover.  A lot of times, this can definitely help.  Sometimes on top of that, you may need to have it resurfaced if it's really bad.  Another possibility that some have used on here is the hot water bath where you soak the ball in a bucket for a while.

My arsenal

Heavy Oil: Storm Virtual Gravity Nano: 4000 AB

The Pink panther has a very absorbent cover (SPONGE)

have it de-oiled and you'll be back to hooking again.

I work at a proshop and have 2 Pink Panthers.  My first one I had the same problem, but encountered it after having to repair lane damage and struggled to get back to the box finish of 6421 compound.  I have put mine in a Revivor(oven) once to extract oil and that helped.  Since then I have communicated with Lane#1 and have been given the info to get the factory finish again. Now no problems.

Have your pro shop contact lane #1 and ask them for the special fairy dust that they rub on the ball to make it hook again

I agree with the fairy dust.  Maybe you should check your ending statics, they matter a whole lot.

my boyfriend and I both have lane 1's and they both were on the DBS. But as soon as we got both baked they were hooking again...I would suggest having it baked once a year maybe twice depending on how many leagues you bowl.
