I know I'll never hear the end of this, BUT...
« on: March 23, 2005, 05:07:22 PM »
I'm in the process of leasing a BCB.  Laugh all you want but a local bowler was looking to get rid of it and let me borrow it to see what I thought.  She had issues getting it to carry.  I haven't had nearly as much as a problem as she had with it though.  I've shot my first two 700's with this ball now and will be buying it from her ASAP.  Needless to say this Lane #1 ball and I match up fairly well.

Here's what I'm curious about.
For everyone that has thrown a BCB, what other balls have you stumbled across that gave you a similar look?  Numbers wise the only other ball that I've thrown that even approaches the BCB was the TPC Player.  The Player has potential, but doesn't quite match up with what I'm bowling on for the most part.

Is there anything out there that would be similar to the BCB?

Not sure if you're want any similar balls or only Lane#1 balls -
My Dyno-Thane Anomaly was very similar to my BCB; I got rid of them because they both hooked so much they were almost uncontrollable. Both were medium to medium-heavy oil balls in their out of the box polished state. Both were usable on the same condition and had similar drillings and similar arcs, very hard arcs. Hit on both were equal and good, nothing spectacular.

The Hybrid is similiar but it is stronger and smoother at the same time.  I feel it has more backend but mainly because of more continuation.  Its definitely not as snappy as the black but I feel it covers more boards.  For me the Dirty Bomb and the Hybrid have totally replaced my needs for the cherry bomb and the black cherry bomb.  I also feel even if the new rule wasn't in affect for cores you would still have seen the two cherry bombs gone because of the new dirtys, they are just that much better.

Actually I am looking towards a non Lane #1 ball company just to see if it's hype or not.  LOL

From your scratch doubles partner...(nice shooting the last two weeks, way to hold me up!)

What type of reaction do you get from your BCB?  Numbers can be deceiving and I think it would be easier to match up a reaction than just numbers.

Its not hype and Lane#1 offers unique ball roll and exceptional carry, you may get close in reaction but you won't duplicate it.  If lane#1 has matched up to your style then the carry from another ball even with the same desired reaction won't be as good.

Not sure why I typed this leaving the door wide open for the bashing to start but I will post it anyway.

Haha...  anytime.  Not sure if it's the ball or me.

As far as the reaction goes....  that's sort of tough for me to describe at the moment.  I will say that the first few flare rings are nearly 5/8" apart and that the last rings are almost parallel to my finger holes.

Guess it can't hurt to post the layout.  Since it's not my ball I'd have to guess 4"x5" with the pin 1" above the midline.  Deep hole low in positive thumb quadrant.  Surface is 600 grit followed by compound 400.

it depends. i never matched up well with the bomb core in the BCB. i had mine and traded it for an emerald. i LOVE the emerald as well as my golden nugget... the buzzsaw core seems to work well. i am punching a hybrid dirty bimb friday, we shall see how she acts!
