I've read that the USBC changed the limitations on differential since changing over from the ABC.  Several years back ABC changed the limitations on the coefficent of friction (COF).

How does the COF change between Lane 1 equipment and how does it effect the bowling ball's reaction to the different lane conditions?

I know there is COF differnce within every bowling ball company and not just Lane 1 specific and its the same concept.

when did ABC change the COF, I was under the impression this was a "talked about change" if they changed it there are companies not adhereing based upon the number of heavy load particles and 400 grit solid reactives on the market.

can you point that to me Nic?

I think they changed the COR (coefficient of restitution), not the COF.

"the ratio of the relative velocity after impact to the relative velocity before the impact of two colliding bodies, equal to 1 for an elastic collision and 0 for an inelastic collision."

Or
how hard or fast the pins bounce away from the ball when the ball hits them.

I don't disagree with Charlest about the change to the coeffient to restitution, but I also believe there was a change to the coeffient to friction about 6 or 7 years ago.

I'm not sure, but I remember reading about this several years ago.  I think thats why the USBC wanted to change differential because the COF was already changed back in the ABC era.

Unless someone replies in the affirmative, maybe an email to the USBC will provide an answer. They do reply eventually.
