What ball would be good for me?
« on: February 15, 2005, 01:59:23 PM »
Hello all Lane 1 people.  I have a question about a good Lane 1 ball for me.  I have high to medium revs with higher speed.  I want a ball that has pretty good length and has an arcing backend.  The reason i ask is I just won a lane 1 ball of my choice.  I have not researched much on Lane 1 because I am a once a week bowler and the pricing is up there, but i don't want to be one of those "get the most expencive one just because I can" kinda people.  I want a ball that will work for me.

Have a Super Carbide Bomb and a Cherry Bomb.  The CB would fit your description.  Stay away from the SCB and the gold nugget for your situation.

ur request is kinda contradictory in its nature...usually balls that go long have snappier backend reactions than balls that tend to roll a little earlier. you can tame down the snapping backends with layouts, but it is still kinda against the nature of a length ball. length balls go long cuz they save hook/energy in the front part of the lanes, and once on the backend just hook, hence a more angular reaction. for length u normally want a ball with a higher RG cuz that makes the ball get into a roll later. but if u want a more arcing reaction u want a ball with a lower RG, earlier roll but arcing backend reaction.

that being said, of the newer balls, the uranium would prlly match up and do what you want. the uranium gets good length (pearlized) but will still have a more arcing reaction cuz it has a medium/low RG, its diff is like a .4 which is in the middle, so it is not gonna grab early, but its not gonna just skid forever. the uranium is a very versatile ball, the majority of people love this ball and i would recommend this especially if this is ur first lane 1 ball. the uranium has the normal diamond core, which is a lil tamer than the bomb cores, the normal diamond also seems to fit /w more people's game.
