I was lucky enough to purchase a 15# Liberator from baltimora. The ball was pristine. Drilled with the pin next to ringfinger with the cg giving a little + side and thumbweight. No weight hole. I took the ball to 4000 and liberally applied polish. I got more of a sheen than a shine, but it will do for now. I'm a no thumb bowler, so I don't worry about thumb holes. The finger inserts fit. I usually don't use finger inserts, but I really wanted to try the ball tonight.
I rolled it in league on a fresh house shot on synthetics. I was able to move about 5 boards right with feet and target from where I normally am with weaker reactive balls. Great pocket %. Ok carry %. I shot a clean 665. Thats unusual for me. I am often in this area score wise, but I am rarely clean. I normally string more strikes and leave a couple of splits.
If I can get just a hair better carry % out of this ball, I will be hard pressed to put it down. It was very forgiving of minor target or realease errors. I had to be consistant with my speed.
This is not just a ball for tough shots. It is also a viable alternative for those of us tired of walking around the ball return. I need a few more sets to see if it carries well enough for me to use every day. I left about 6 ten pins tonight. With reactive balls it is usually more like 2. I hope it is only a question of lining up a little better.
